Baby it's cold brrr

A very chilly ,dreary day, even in the house I am wearing 2 pair of socks, a sweater and a quilt over my legs. No snow, just cold. I need to eat something that warms me up...soup?
Now that's a bit of snow but there is no snow here right now. It is so cold that it could snow though.
Ray said he was going to get my embroidery machine out tomorrow so that I can move around a bit. I love the idea but wonder how I'll manage the pressing and the cutting since I can't stand or walk
without my walker.  However I'll give it the old school try! It may happen LOL.
Ray was the mailman today, one of his many jobs buying stamps and mailing cards. In my webshots I have an album Man's Work is Never  Done. This picture belongs in that album but you get to see it first :))

My Webshots address if you care to look for him.
Rick just called to say he is coming over.  He promised to visit us this weekend while he was in town and before he goes back to Calgary.
Today Chelsea came home from Humber University in Toronto for the Christmas holidays. It will  be great to see her.
And Peter has left for Hong Kong. My family are travelling all over these day.
I stay in the same place however marking time until I can walk again. I see both my specialists this coming week so hopefully they will have some answers.
I think I may be going to the quilting party on Tuesday, cross my fingers, Ray seems to be leaning that way.
Pretty isn't it. You can see it is a nine patch and you could figure out the cuts by looking at the picture. A challenge LOL.
Time to go folks
Bon Soir.

murder she wrtoe

Murder She Wrote can be ordered up on line as a boxed set for $72.95. I have always enjoyed Jessica's puzzle solving skills.  It seems such a gentle mystery, no blood and gore . So many of today's shows are far too graphic for me. So I might just buy that set, maybe.
Ray and I walked, well let me qualify that. Ray walked, I sat in the wheel chair, around Metrotown.
The mall was busy and there was lots of activity in the stores. People were walking out with bags, so it looks like a good Christmas. It was a cheerful atmosphere. We had lunch, I ordered mac and cheese, small salad and a glass of milk.
What was I thinking?  I only ate half of it but it was good.
The past few days I have missed my afternoon nap, I need that extra bit of sleep,so today I had a good one and Ray held my phone calls or answered them for me. I believe that sleep cures all ills :))
While I was sleeping Ray put up the Xmas tree and the wreath on the front door so we are set for the holiday.
Vancouver is just beginning to light up the Christmas tree at Jack Poole Plaza. So far it is just talk, I wonder how long they can drag out the talk and commercials, it is amazing how they can create a mood of suspense. Maybe it won't happen until 7:00.
Ah there it is huge and beautiful. Worth waiting for!!
Have a great evening friends.
Buenas noches.

Costco

Costco sure is expensive or is it the way we lose perspective as we enter those hallowed doors. So much to choose from and the merchandise seems to be very well priced. Of  course you must buy a book, some chocolates, a huge jar of cashews, Mrs Callander's chicken pot pies and then the useful paper goods that were in your plan. Big bill!!
I love the hot dogs they sell there but today I couldn't even think of eating one,way too big, so we went to Wendy's LOL. I ordered a Malt. Apparently it is not called a Malt but a Frostee so the man at the till told me in a " are you a dummy " voice. Oh well I got my Frostee . Could only eat  half of it but it was so delicious. Ray had a hamburger, no fries...
Back to Costco, Ray had me in the wheelchair and  he could not push the cart and me too.But Ray always finds a solution. He put me at the book shelves and I stayed there until his shopping was complete. Funny thing though, The wheelchair was so low down I could not see the titles of the book so had to pick up each one to see if I wanted to buy it. I did buy a James Patterson and again he is writing in collaboration with another writer. Is he losing his talent? Can he no longer produce a whole book by himself. I wonder.
Oh and at the moment I am reading New York by Edmund Rutherford. It is a chronology of New York from when it was a small native fishing village and takes us through the centuries and all the events that occurred in that time. It is told in a story form as it introduces you to the history of that great city. Big book, but a wonderful story. I like the span of time it covers and helps us to realize the chronology of the era.
Time to go for my walk down the hall, I may be back LOL.
Photo gallery, I am back.
Charlotte the laughing Angel.

Ah -back to the hydro boxes, this one covered with roses

And also covered with roses is this cute little dress.

that's all folks....

the supplies are here

This has been an all day delivery system either if goods or of services.
The shower lady was first, then the nurse who gives the antibiotic ,next the cleaning lady, Lynn ,from Nurse Next Door and finally the man from down town  with the medical supplies. Who would think being ill would require so many people and so much medicine. Ha! It takes all day.
We did not get out at all, at least I didn't Ray just went and took my car out for a spin. I haven't driven it since last December. Adam drove it a bit in the summer but Ray likes to keep it running occasionally. I am concerned that I may not drive again if my legs don't improve. Maybe a few more months will make a difference.
I just talked to Mary and she said she is still gestating. Funny girl.
We are watching  Oasis, it is such a wonderful nature channel. Today it is about breeding ducks, the footage of the hatchlings riding around on their mother's backs is amazing.
Red necked grebe

The next show was about rutting deer. Fascinating how the alpha male vanquishes all comers. What amazing racks these animals have. And on Sunday there is a great show of Parrots. Ray and I used to have parrots so we will love this show.
I lost one of my ballerina blocks. Remember I had done three of them, now there are two. We looked all over but no luck. However I know it will turn up sometime. I can only look for such a short time but I'll try again tomorrow. Wish me luck!! LOL

The Pan Pacific held their Christmas Wish breakfast this morning, bring a toy, get a buffet/pancake breakfast. The toys were piled to the ceiling, amazing sight.
Have a lovely evening.

eating crackers and cream cheese

My appetite has been awful today but during our shopping trip today I bought some little round garlic breads and cream cheese plus salsa. Spread the cream cheese on the little breads and then add the salsa to the top. It was so good that I actually overate.  A change from soup which I most often eat because it is easy to digest and I love it. For some reason I seem to have gone off red meat but that is not necessarily a bad thing.
The shower lady did not show today so Ray helped me in and out of the tub. The supervisor called to apologize and said someone will come tomorrow. And the antibiotic nurse could not come until 12:30 instead of 10:30 so we had a late start. We did finally manage to go for some groceries.
People are beginning to decorate their homes for Xmas. This one is really attractive and so appropriate for the season.

This development puts up a nice display every year and no the fire hydrant is not supposed to be the focus of the picture LOL

These are a close up of the stars on the wall , they'll be lovely at night.

And Sam for his birthday dinner at the Keg. He looks so handsome.
I did not get my nap today, so many different phone calls so I just gave it up. It will be early to bed tonight.
Betty called today to invite Ray and me to the Tuesday group's Christmas party. I will need to work on him as he does not enjoy totally women's gathering.
So for tonight it is over :))
Have a lovely evening.
Good night!

Mayor

The Mayor was dressed in his highland gear for the investiture of hiiiiim and his new council. As he is a tall man , he looked good in his kilt and jacket with the silver buttons. I'm not a big fan of the mayor but sure am a fan of his outfit :))   Not of his knees though LOL.

News of the day.
We missed the nurse this morning. After making and confirming our appointment time three times she had to change the time which was not convenient for us since we were going to the podiatrist. So the only time that was available was 2:30 . She wasn't too happy about that but sometimes that's the way things go. She is a cheerful lady for the most part and good fun.
We met Bob amd Buzz for lunch.  We used to entertain each other on a regular basis but now neither of us feel like entertaining so we eat out and visit that way. It's still fun. Good friends are fun no matter where they are. Talking about infections and I wasn't at the time, Buzz said her daughter had contracted a sever staph infection and has to go to the hospital twice a day for IV antibiotic. What on earth is going on......
My weight is still down, no gains but then I am often not hungry. I wondera bout that too as my appetite has always been good.
While we were eating we ran into Kathy with her daughter so had a quick hug and glad to see you. It was good for me to see Kathy, I miss her and our visits to Tom's. I am still in a wheel chair when we go out as my legs are not good on theri own. If I use the walker It is not too bed but on their own forget it. Still I am happy that we have the wheelchair out on loan and the walker too. We have them until the end of January when we can tell whether we need to buy one or not.
We did a bit of shopping  after lunch and bought a Christmas dress for Rose, Mary's baby, not here yet . I bought a big purse for myself, a nice grey one- tomorrow I'll take photos of both of them, but I am too lazy right now.  I'll stay up for another hour and then it light's out for me.
I'm going to call Marianne now to see how she is with her infection.
Time to go folks.
Have a great evening. Bon Soir.

Live for today

Who knows what tomorrow may bring. I hope that something good will happen tomorrow. I have three appointments so that will fill up my day. Then we really need to go to the grocery store. Fun eh!
But for today we stayed in, the nurse was really good today and gave me a lot of good advice.
I have spent most of the day in the bathroom except for the time I was napping.
Ray found 2 quilting magazines still in the bag, so that has been a nice treat. They were a bit out of date with Hallowe'en projects but still  reading the instructions gives me a few ideas.
In one magazine it shows how to make a hexagon quilt using strips. Interesting technique. I need to take a bit more time at it though to determine if it will work for me. Oh heck what am I talking about It doesn't look like I will be sewing any time soon.  Too much going on around here.
There were 2 colour strips sewn together in one long length,  a second length using different colours. Then with a 60' triangle ruler cut out triangles and sew the alternating triangles together to make a hexagon.

Oh well I still love to look at the quilting magazines.  So may beautiful quilts. As they say -so many quilts ,so little time.
Wow did you see that there is a killer operating on Craig's List, offering jobs that people respond to . The end result is really frightening. It seems that nowhere is safe.  But the good news is the perpetrators have been caught.
Matthew came over this morning for a visit and we had a good chat. Caroline was out Christmas shopping. Matthew talked about his job at the airport,or should I say jobs. He said he loved his work and has loved any job  he had so in effect he never really had to work.
What a great way to look at life!!
Adam says it is getting cold down in Louisiana, it's all relative of course. When we were there one winter it was at the freezing point, so it is not always hot down south. And we have had no rain, not any projected for several more days. That was great for the annual Santa Claus Parade today. We watched it on the news and the kids were just so cute, the little ones dancing to the music. It makes me happy.
I have not been able to take pictures these days. Because I have trouble with my legs it is a great challenge to get up for the camera. When we go out there are not many nice scenes to take. Maybe we can go down to the river but Ray has to push me in the wheelchair so I hate to ask any more of him.
I'll keep my eyes open for something tomorrow.
Prayers for my dear friend Lindsay who had an accident on the hospital and received a deep cut on her leg. Get well Lindsay.
Have a lovely evening folks.
And thanks for your comments.

Have a lovely evening.
God kvall

all's fair

Hahaha Marg, Ray and I went to the casino today. It is Ray's birthday and we took him for lunch, well Marg did. Marg and Ray lost a few bucks and Nan.....wait for it.... won $350 approximately. I took out my original investment and then gave Ray $100. He heard from all the family and was happy about that.
I had to make arrangements with the nurse this morning to change the time for their visit on Monday, since I have an appointment with the foot doctor at that time. My toe nails are so long I can hardly get my shoes on LOL.
I'm sure glad I made a couple of lap quilts, I seem to be cold this year even though the temperature has not been cold. It must be the weight I lost. Anyway these little quilts are very nice on my legs.
This one is Ray's , he is wearing it tonight if you can call it wearing LOL.
Mine is in my photos and is not eager to come out so I'll work on it some more.
Still no sewing , I had hoped to get some done tomorrow but Matthew and Caroline are coming over and I am looking forward to their visit.
That's my tale for tonight, maybe tomorrow I'll take a picture of my lap quilt.
Have a wonderful evening.

home all day

I'm still feeling under the weather, hopefully it will be better tomorrow.
But we had three professionals here today. The shower lady who helps me have a shower, not sure she is a professional, haha, next the nurse who is a professional, came to administer the antibiotic. She was a different nurse from the ones we have had before so we took the time to get acquainted. She was interested in my quilts and said she had made one herself.
This card trick is one of my first too. I know I showed it before but I haven't got any new things done forever.

I thought that was it for the day so lay down for a nap hoping that would make me feel better.  Not to be .....:(  The physical therapist rang up. I was not expecting her but she put me through my paces , talked a lot and left me with a page of exercises to do.
then I had my nap, felt better for it.
Last night I took Jim, Ray and Sam for dinner. It was a good time but I couldn't eat much except ice cream. I had ice cream for dinner tonight too. It seems to be the only food that settles my stomach.
We have had lovely weather here, sunny and cool but not cold. More of the same to come.
Jim left at noon for Kelowna. His friends Gail and Kevin have a townhouse up there and since they are in Phoenix for the cold months it was available for Jim.  He is staying just one night and then driving to Calgary to have dinner with Rick and Peter, no doubt spending the night before heading up to Edmonton and home.

Good night sweet Charlotte and you all too.
I'm going back to bed. Talk tomorrow.
Bon soir

error

Short notice folks. Yesterday I was not feeling well, we went to Mr. Ho's for dinner and I could not eat. When we got home I went to bed and fell into a deep sleep. Blogging was not on last night's agenda. I'm sorry about that.
That's all folks.
