Riley Blake patterns

http://www.rileyblakedesigns.com/quilting_projects/

Lots of Quilt patterns on this site.

Another day in but I did get some work done on my embroidery machine. I embroidered a whole block. Tomorrow I want to sew the blocks for the guild.
My 3rd son Peter is coming to visit at noon tomorrow. I am eagerly looking forward to his visit.
It rained all day today and is still raining. Ray went to the grocery store to shop but he cannot buy much due to having to carry the groceries up all those flights of stairs. As you guess the elevator is still out. The reason I did not go with Ray is that he could not carry my walker and the groceries.   But I made good use of my time and I had a nap as well. Plus I did a bit of crochet.

This is Caterday.
A lazy lady helping with the quilting process. Well overseeing it anyway. LOL.

Tesselating cats , some right side up and some upside down. this one is a fascinating little quilt.

Funny faces.

Got to go trouble with my laptop.
Good night folks.

a disappointment

Oh well my blog just disappeared. I have had trouble with things today. My first problem was filling out a form for a card. I had to take four tries as the forms kept disappearing. Now the blog I started went south.  It drives me nuts when all my work is lost. If anyone out there knows how to get it to return please let me know. For the next time that happens as it will.

And then there was my huge disappointment about my dear beloved friend Donna who died a few weeks back.  I had told her family that Matthew and I wanted to attend the services if there was to be any. Well i got a letter today saying they missed me at Donna's service, too bad I was not well enough to attend. Imagine my shock and disbelief and yes pain. I had strongly wanted to wish my dear friend good bye to this life and good landing in the next. Well I missed the main event but I will pray for her in my little lonely event.
Enough of my whining and on to the rest of my day.

Haha haha this seems fitting for my day.

But we managed to walk down the stairs. Ray is such a man, he carried my walker downstairs as well as the few items we bought. All this with his weakened hands that have rheumatoid arthritis in them . He suffers a lot of pain from it. I crawl up the stairs grabbing on to both railings and pull myself up.

We went to the Crossings to London Drugs where Ray bought a power bar for my laptop , the other one was not working well. I bought a new book, can't seem to pass a book stand without buying at least one. Today the book was by Erica Spindler,   Justice for Sara. And I picked up a magazine " HELLO ". I walked around the cosmetic department but did not buy. What could all that stuff do for me anyway LOL. I love it  though.

We went to the library to donate some books and then into the mall for bread. That was it.

If I did not have Ray I'd need one of these but for those who have mothers who are alone  and handicapped this caddy would be useful.

That was it for the day, we came home and did nothing. I made scrambled eggs and toast for dinner. It was good!

I love this angry cat. He is so full of it and here he is passing on his observations to whomever is on the other  side of the table.   He always  has something to say  and passed judgement on all.

That's what I tell Ray when he comments on my mess.

Shocked and hurt. haha

Naughty boy, kitty did no such thing.

That's the end folks.

Have a great evening.
Good night.

Crazy House is the name of this block, lots of crazies going on this week , maybe  crazy Horse will be next LOL.

We are staying in today , both of us. Ray doesn't want to go out alone and I don't want to do those stairs. We were told yesterday that the stairs would be fixed on Friday. Let's hope so.

So I think I will do a bit of embroidery on my machine.

How is this for a sewing machine, pretty clever I think.

Will you look at that my paragraph went missing and bold print is not on . Something rotten here is going on.

Well I did not get to the embroidery because I spent too much time on the laptop. I have to stop this.

Weather report is Rain and more rain. Going east there is a lot of snow. it is good to stay home, that's my thoughts on the weather.

I am stopping now, very tired.

There is is I lost the black print for a while but now it is back again.

I  am full of drivel tonight , my thoughts are not in any reasonable order.  Where did my brain go?  And see this is it, bold print.

Thank goodness for finding it too as now I can see what I am writing.  Maybe that will help.

You know this is so bad I am going to stop writing.

Good evening and good night.

Have a good evening folks.

Good night .

See what I mean.

twist

Download now as a pdf pattern

Twisted block. It looks like it should be called Crazy Crystal.

Rained most of the day today but that never stops us.  My first trip of the day was to the chiropractor and a good thing it was as my back was hurting. Happy coincidence.

Then we went to McDonald's at The Crossings . I had a salad and Ray a hamburger. After that we went to Safeway to get a prescription renewed and pick up a couple of things. Not too much though because we have to carry it all upstairs. Or Ray does and that includes my walker.  So it was just a couple of things.

We ran inot one of the men who are working on the elevator and he said it would be fixed by Friday. I sure hope he is right. When I have walked up all those flights my poor legs are like rubber.
I had a nap when we got home.

After the nap Marg came over for a visit. I gave her the book I had just finished reading. It was a good one, The Book Thief, about a girl in Nazi Germany who learned to read but had no books. The central theme is that she steals books from the Mayor's library with the help of the Mayor's wife.   The secondary them is WW2 in Nazi Germany if you can call WW2 secondary rather than primary. The writer has an almost lyrical sense of  the use of words, very much like my son Richard.  The cast of characters is rich and full of odd balls. Over all is the love the girl has for her Papa  and her friendship with a young neighbourhood boy.  The Book Thief is definitely worth reading.
I gave it to Marg but she is going to give it back to me. It is a book I want to keep.  Marg brought me a book too , one by Karen Rose, Watch Your Back.  We exchange books all the time.

And now Ray and I are watching CSI. We don't watch this very often  but tonight it is good.

Beautiful isn't she ?

And this one too. No pattern was given but this quilt is for ideas.  It is symmetrical in design .

Lovely quilt and beautifully arranged. No pattern but here are some more quilts.

I love the tomato pincushion in pink and green.

LOL teaching the little girl to be a sneaky little girl  and deceive daddy.

Log Cabin Star

I looked at this several before I actually saw the star in this quilt. But it is lovely don't you think.

Glorious colours in this string quilt.

And now it is time to go folks.

Have a lovely evening.
Good night.

climbing

Crazy Anne does look crazy doesn't she? She warps my eyes. Maybe it is why the call her crazy.

http://cadouri-din-inima.blogspot.ro/2013/12/tutorial-raw-edge-applique-swirl-design.html

This is the most unusual quilting I have ever seen and I have seen a lot of quilting.

The stairs are now our means of exit and egress , so climbing has become my exercise regime.  We did go out today because I had been in for a few days and wanted to get out of the apartment for a bit. We decided to go to the mall for a bit of lunch. Ray had salad and I fool that I  am I had poutine.
Then we walked around the mall to Sears where I had a battery put into another watch. They are now all ready for wearing.  We looked around for clothes, not that I need any but I like to look.  The stock they have there now is just awful. I will have to go shopping at Nygard's from now on.

Then we stopped at Dairy Queen to share a strawberry sundae. We had a lovely outing and climbed back up to our apartment.

Once again my obsession with unique pincushions.  Great isn't it.
I just collect them don't make them. So if anyone makes this one let me know. nanb@shaw.ca

Cute owls on plaid made by my friend Sally. One day I want to make an owl quilt.

I love the red fabrics in this quilt. There  are several different fabrics in this quilt and I love it.

More red in this quilt.

We love the 'motion', the contrast, and the beatiful design of this quilt by Suzy Myers of Suzy's Artsy-Craftsy Sitcom. If you're a beginner looking for a challenging but doable project or if you're a veteran quilter with a couple days..

An interesting example of a string quilt.
This is worth noting as an example of good hotel behaviour.

That is all I have for tonight folks.

Have a lovely evening.

Good night.

lost blog

It appears that I have lost my blog for tonight and it was  almost finished.   It is a job to do this and find all the pictures so I have to get at it once again.

Wow this is a complicated block. Bravo to those who would tackle it.  Be sure and show it if you sew this one. I will not be doing it LOL.  Simple blocks are the way for me to go.

These little ladies are dressed up as their grandmas all dressed in their housecoats, slippers, walkers, red glasses, curlers  and night clothes. How adorable.

And this is how I spent the afternoon.

I completed the set by finishing HERS. This time I used a peach towel instead of white but I am not sure if it was the way to go. Maybe a white one would have been better. However when I buy these towels I get a few sets so am not always right on the money.I did use the plastic clear stabilizer on both towels but HERS is not quite as  good as HIS. One thing though I think the pile was too high on these towels. I'll be sure and look for a lower loft next time.

Oh well they won't be leaving this home.

Isn't this a beauty. I have one that a friend brought me back from Italy. I had one with a pink background that I bought in Italy myself but it went through the washer and broke in half. I almost went back to Italy LOL.

What a cute kitty quilt. No pattern so it is just for looking. It is in an Attic Windows setting. Perfect for resting cats.

So for today I stayed in and sewed as I already said but Ray went out for a while to buy some bread. This no elevator thing is a pain but after it is fixed it should be a long time before we have any more trouble with it.
I called Pat today and we talked about going to Tuesday sewing. It will be the end of March before we are both free to go . So I will sew and embroider at home. I have several things to do. One is to shape up my butterfly blocks so that they are all the same size and the same thing with my hearts.

Sweet isn't she sewing her quilt with her cat, the quilter's familiar, sitting on the arm of her chair and the snow outside piling up on the window ledge.

And that is all for tonight.
Have a great evening.

Good night.

Sites to see

There some sites to look at, enjoy them and I hope you find something interesting to make.

I did not sleep well last night so took a long nap this afternoon. I got up in time to make spaghetti for dinner. It was good. I cooked Ray cleaned up. I like that.

So there is nothing to say on my day. Mostly I slept  after my shower. What a waste of a day but then I needed that.

Of course the elevator being out did not help . Going up and down all those stairs is really hard on me. My legs are so bad and don't like climbing stairs.

I think we are going to make a stab at it tomorrow.

Rick is getting the hardboard put up for the tile in his newly renovated bathroom. He got kicked out of the room LOL. He was probably trying to help and of course that did not work.

Candle is the name of this block. I wonder where these names come from or are they picked out of a hat.The names are interesting though.

Irony.... It is funny.

Notebook cover from Terry Atkinson. This is a nice piece of work.

I am not sure if I put this one up before but here it is . Let me know if I am repeating myself.  It is a nice pattern and shows how to set up the fabrics too.

That's all I have for tonight folks.

                                      Have a great evening.
                                        Good night.

another hexagon

http://vintageembellishments.com/

If you have been saving these wonderful hexagons here is the latest in various greens. Beautiful again.

pat sloan charm pack and dot scrappy2
I hear you on the scraps
And you've proved it by showing them to me at my Quilt Along group!
If you missed my Scrap Happy Shoofly sew along.. the post link is on my FREE quilt pattern page. CthiLICK HERE

This is nice, simple yet effective. Black on white background fabric and various scrap pieces for the half square triangles.

Twice should be good enough. There are patterns for other months and they are all the same format of one quarter of the block repeated 3 more times. Lovely blocks.

Triple Irish Chain with shamrocks in the spaces. Can you make this one in time for March 17?   Hah!

As mom says Coming in on Runway Three and Charlotte agrees!

It is all downhill from here, Spring is coming despite these  awful snow storms.

Isn't this gorgeous and the pattern is above the picture.

Stayed in today since there is no elevator. Ray went out for a few groceries and that was the extent of our goings out today.  I spent most of the day frivously laptopping.. But at the end of the day I did some sewing for the guild. I want to get those blocks done before the second Wednesday in March. I got half of them done so Should be able to finish off the package by then. It was good to use my sewing machine . I am happy with my day's work

Then I cooked dinner, pork chops in mushroom soup at Ray request, he like that and so do I. Ray made a wonderful cole slaw. I had a baked potato  and we finished it off with tiny peas. Delicious!! Must cook more often LOL.

I was going to clean my embroidery machine , change the needle and bobbin but after all the food I am resting .......Tomorrow, as we won't be going out.

That's all for tonight folks.

Have a wonderful evening.
Good night.
