It is called Chevron Stripes but I call it Lightning Strikes!
Sorry about this but I forgot to write the blog.
Tonight for sure, whoops np it is guild night and dinner. Tomorrow then.
This blog is a place to talk about the bits and pieces of my life and loves. The title came from my Scottish auntie who one day said to me "Oh Sadie forgot her bits and pieces" , which was her lunch ;) I have not forgotten that Bits and Pieces are part of life. So here is the place where I share my bits and pieces and maybe sometimes the things I have learned in a long life.

loser/winner
I seem to have lost a blog. Where oh where can it be? The internet remains a place of mystery.
The Canucks won last night over the Penguins and Sid the Kid, Sidney Crosby. I am of two minds on this one. I love our Canucks but am fond of Sidney Crosby. So who do I root for? Well this game is over so it doesn't really matter. In this case I can be happy no matter who has won.
We went to London Drugs today. I bought some make-up, something I have never used in a long life but I have brown spots on my face and hope the make-up will cover them. Of course the lady who worked the floor assure me that it would. I am not assured! Also bought some new nail polish. The colours of nail polish are wonderful and always attract me.
My hand is still sore and swollen, now my right ankle is sore too. I haven't looked at it to see if it too has increased in size.I think it must be arthritis of some sort.

I hate cooking LOL. Aunty Acid probably does too.
Sue's Tumbler quilt with various colours of scrappy bits. Very nice.
Aha Orange is the new black as they say. I would name this quilt orange juicy. Big blocks make this an interesting quilt. I wonder just how big they are.
I find this one very attractive , the yellow just makes this quilt POP.
My great granddaughter Rose on the road again. Love that scooter. I am happy she has a helmet to protect her head.
Time is up folks. Have a great evening.
Good night.

Saturday
I have a sore hand. My left hand on the left side is quite sore and it is swollen, it hurts to type or use it. However it is probably old age and arthritis. I do not have any real issues with arthritis given my age so I am lucky that way. It is not the way Ray feels which is much worse than my little pain. He has Rheumatoid Arthritis which is a total body illness.
We are watching the Green River Killer Gary Ridgeway. I remember that case in the 80s after so many bodies had been found in the Green River . Seattle was overcome with the killings and the police had worked hard to find him. The people in the film are all folks who were close to him and to hear them talk about these killings and the watch them cry is very emotional. He was such an ordinary man that his family was overcome. Ridgeway confessed and was given a life sentence rather than the death sentence.
I had a call from Adam yesterday, I think he and Lisa are in Atlanta Georgia. Not sure though but it begins with an A. Man I am so bad about these things nowadays. I wonder if It is lack of attention on my part. I know my memory is still good for most things.
We are watching Sid the Kid, Sidney Crosby, play hockey here tonight. Right now the score is 2-0 for us of all things. You would think that Sid's team would be ahead not the Canucks.
My lovely granddaughter Chelsea. I don't know where she is in this photo .
Adam's wife Lisa has a new grandbaby , I don't know its name or sex but I do have a photo.
Isn't this a special photo. What a great big yawn. Congratulations Lisa and Adam and the rest of the family. Who are the parents Lisa?
Now this is bright and beautiful. I love bright colours and this appeals to me greatly.
The Canucks are 4-0 ahead of the Penguins. What a huge surprise. I thought for sure Sidney Crosby would keep them ahead of us.
At nine o'clock we will watch Midsomer Murders. I am happy about that. I like following this series. It appears to me that each episode is a stand alone episode. That is good as I can follow it periodically if necessary.
Barnaby and his sidekick Scott. A good show to watch and we are doing so now.
That is all for tonight folks.
Have a good evening.
Good night.
Good rockin' tonight.

Today's news
I seem to be forgetting my blog recently. Tonight I will make up for that.
Things are not working very well on the blog, so I hope I can get this done.
Ray and I did go out today and we spent some more money. Ray bought a new pillow and pillowcase to go with the red sheets he bought the other day. We went to Metrotown , had Chinese food for lunch, but did not enjoy it as we usually do. We think that the shop has changed hands and the food is not the same. Too bad.
I did nothing else today but read a bit more of Edge of Eternity. I talked to Adam (Bob ) and he had read this book. He said he had enjoyed it greatly. Marg also loved it so I plan to do the same.
Rick was being interviewed by CTV Calgary today on the new law regarding physician-assisted suicide for those who have a terminal disease as he does, ALS. I tried to get it tonight on my TV but missed it. Rick said he would tape it so we could watch it. He seems to be the poster boy for ALS in Calgary, not really a position the he wants to be in. However if he can be helpful to others it will be good.
And here is a birthday cake for a quilter with the Monkey Wrench block as its foundation.
This is so cute, all the little turtles are adorable. I love turtles. At our local park they sit on a log and sun themselves. They need to get their heat externally as they are cold blooded. But I love them.
Once in the Disneyworld area we saw a huge turtle( tortoise ) like this. They are really huge. Wouldn't want to get to close to their mouth though as the can surely bite hard.
Here's a pretty little Valentine heart quilt for you loved one.

My son Jim with a friend . Jim is my fourth son. Four out of five.
I made this heart quilt for one of our great granddaughters in Quebec.
Okay folks, I am going to help Ray do a job now.
Have a fine evening.
Good night.
pineapple

Little pineapple is the name of this block. I don't think I did a blog last night so here is one for tonight.
Ray and I went to Brentwood mall for a change of pace. Well it was a big change, we spent a lot of money. I bought my spring wardrobe, 4 tops and a pair of jeans. I needed some new tops as the oense I have are getting kind of ratty looking.
Then we went to the book store, Coles, and I bought two books. I always seem to buy two books and when I have read them I go and buy two more. Weird isn't it? I like to have a book on the side to read when the first one is finished. I love reading. Then we bought some chocolates from Purdy's our local chocolatier who make their own chocolates. They are wonderful pieces of heaven.
We had a bit of lunch at Brentwood centre. That mall area is being eroded as they are building there. Whatever they are building I have no idea but it is a mess. We each had a hamburger and a root beer from A&W because we had free coupons.
We came home after that and I worked on my laptop, still am for that matter. We had leftovers for dinner and now I am hungry again. Darn I hate it when that happens. I don't like to eat after dinner. That puts on weight and I don't need to gain any weight.
Another unfinished symphony. I'll try to be better tonight.

black is the new black

The blackbird or maybe a crow which is a blackbird. This is a cute little block.
Did I tell you that I am reading Ken Follett's book , the Edge of Eternity which spans the 20th century. I have only read 55 pages but the book is huge and heavy so I have trouble holding it. I put it on a cushion for support. That makes things easier. I like to read in bed . I will try tonight to see if I can hold it. If not I won't read it. I am trying to keep it in the good shape that it was given to me by Marg. Actually I think the cushion is the best way to do that. Apart from the mechanical issues the story so far is engrossing.
We had a lazy day even though it was Tuesday and Ray had things to do and I was supposed to go sewing. Ray had developed a fierce headache last night and it was still there in the morning. I get concerned about headaches so I stayed home to make sure he would be okay. He managed to go to the dentist tonight so he is a bit better. But I was glad I stayed home to keep an eye on him.
Adam have you seen the TV showing the dreadful snow conditions in Saint John and New Brunswick. It is piled high along the sides of the roads. More weather : we are expecting some very bad rain storms in the next two days. I like those storms along with the winds especially when I am tucked up in bed with my quilts keeping me warm and cozy.
Tonight I watch NCIS New Orleans. I love that show because I have been to New Orleans and I look for places I know. Silly isn't it but that amuses me. It is a fairly new show here , I really enjoy it.
My sewing machine table needs cleaning, still have not got at it. But tomorrow will be the day. I did some of that cleaning last week but not enough. I will take a photo. LOL
Ray took this photo of me today.
This is such a bright quilt, I love that orange. It looks cozy but would it keep you awake.
Time is up folks.
Have a great evening.
Good night.

Dancing Bear
I am quite tired tonight so the blog will be short. Ray has had a toothache and is going to the dentist tomorrow. I feel badly for him.
This morning I went back to bed for an extra session of sleep.
I made ribs and sauerkraut for dinner. It is so easy to make, just put the ribs in a roaster with garlic salt and seasoned salt, put in the oven for an hour and a half, then eat. It is delicious. You can add the sauerkraut to the meat or warm it up on the top of the stove.
Delicious and easy.
We went to the ostomy clinic this afternoon and Ray went to the blood clinic in the morning. On the way home from the ostomy clinic we stopped at Safeway for a few items. I had a coffee there and a piece of cake. Afternoon snack.
This is the end folks. I will try and do better tomorrow.

Another week gone
Download now as a pdf pattern
This one looks a bit complicated but we can do it. It is very attractive .
Another day of staying in all day. But it is nice. Ray worked hard today doing the work around here. I helped him a bit. I also made lunch and supper LOL. Big deal I hear you say! But in my defense I have trouble standing up and walking as my legs are extremely shaky. The doctor gave me some medicine for that and it is slightly working but my legs are still weak. People tell me that I should walk more. Well I do because I know if you don't use it you lose it. Still I have had some trouble with the legs.
My sister Marg came over this afternoon brought some books. The latest one by Ken Follett , Edge of Eternity is the title of the book.
It has 1095 pages and is very heavy. The story though is a wander through the minefield of history and I know I'll really enjoy it. This is the third book in a trilogy but it can stand alone.
Isn't this adorable I love owls and found this one on Facebook where the designer shared it. the thing about owls is that they are pretty symmetrical so it would be fairly easy to make up a pattern to do. I used to make them at school by folding paper and just doing half of the owl. The other half came out great.
We watched the Superbowl game and cried when Seattle lost the game. We are so west coast. I don't know a thing about football but cheer for the team we like anyway.
I don't know when I became a sports fan but Ray has me aclimatized . I even know some of the names of the players.
Starry night and not the one by Van Gogh, but a lovely quilt anyway.
Beautiful mocassins , hand made by Pam Holland.
That's it folks, good night.

elk
We don't want to run into these guys (elk) on the road while we are driving. Great specimens aren't they.
http://charisecreates.blogspot.com/p/vintage-block-quilt-al
Great quilt of many colours LOL. But yes it is lovely and has numerous blocks. Take a close look at the blocks and you'll see
some interesting interpretations of the blocks.
A day in- that was today. And I did almost nothing. Changed out my quilt on the bed. Took the newly cleaned quilt and placed it on the bed , took off the one that was replacing it. It was nice to have that on for a change. It was a sampler that was made for Ray by my friends when he was diagnosed with cancer. It is a nice quilt and I need to take a picture of it. It is too dark now so in the morning I'll take a snap of the quilt. Whoops I just looked and Ray has already folded it up. I will have to beg LOL
I don't know if you use dark red nail polish, I usually paint my nails with a pale shade of nail varnish. But this last time I painted them a dark ruby red which I really liked and so did Ray. But when I removed it today my nails were stained pretty badly with red polish. I cleaned them as well as I could, but I guess I'll need to put a lighter polish on them. My natural nails are awful looking so that is why a colour them. They are a good shape but an awful surface. So polish it is. Back to pink haha. I dropped the polish remover and it spilled on me so It was touch and go as to whether I'd have enough to remove the polish but thank goodness there was just enough.
Ray is not feeling very well tonight, his ankles are swollen. He just had his heart checked out recently so we don't think that is it. He has to wait until Wednesday for the doctor to be available. She only works 3 days a week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
