Five Patch Frame  Nice looking block.

rainbow row by row quilt - http://www.littlemissshabby.com/category/rainbow-row-along

I have looked and looked for this picture so if you are interested just click and it will show up ,   I hope.

Isn't this a nice little stitchery. I have tried but cannot find the design for this embroidery. By clicking on the picture you may locate the design.
As you can see I have not had much luck today.

I am still not feeling that well. I went to lunch with my Healthy Heart Group because I did not want to miss this group . However I had to ask Maureen to bring me home a bit early. Oh well.
Maureen and I met up with the other ladies at the Burnaby Golf Course. We all had wraps and I don't mean for your shoulders. It came with spinach and chicken soup. I thought the soup was delicious but I do not care much for wraps and it held true for this one. I did have deep apple pie and ice cream for dessert which was
delicious.

Lower left Eunice, then Olga. Me at the end, Maureen on my right and Marie beside Maureen. Valana could not make it today. We missed her. We all used to attend an exercise group at one time. These ladies still attend but as you can tell , I do not.
These pretty roses are outside the restaurant at the gold course.
And tomorrow is my Tuesday group with  Pat. I just hope I am feeling okay then. We have an early morning date for coffee before we go to our quilting group.

And it is time for dogs.

And aggressive kitties LOL.

More loving companions.
 Ah so cute!

And that is all folks. I am still not feeling well and am very tired.
Have a great evening.

cat not in hat

http://www.quiltandsewshop.com/product/quiltmaker-100-blocks-volume-5-digital-issue/just-arrived

The cat is in the basket this time. This block is from the 100 blocks Volume 5 Quiltmaker. I have not seen it on the shelves yet but in our store there are not many  quilt magazines. In the old store there were many quilt magazines but that store is no more.

 http://www.quiltandsewshop.com/product/quiltmaker-100-blocks-volume-2-digital-issue/best-seller

This owl is from the same source but in Volume 2, he's kind of cute.

It has been a rough day for me I have felt sick and spent a bit of time in bed, until mid afternoon.
Marg came over for a short visit with a piece of mail.  Talking about mail I called the Post Office about getting a refund from the $80 we spent to change our address after the fire and guess what? They do not offer refunds.
As I said I was sick today so I have very little to report and this will be a short blog tonight.
Ray went out for a while to pick up some items from the store. He does not like to leave me alone so he does these trips when Marg or Lynn come over and there is someone here . I don't worry about that but he does.
Richard is on the bald rock , Newfoundland. I wish he would come home. I worry so much. Not that it does any good for anybody.
Here are some cute pictures of  Charlotte and Rose.

Charlotte is away on holiday at Birch Bay, she is in her jammies after a busy day.

I love this picture of Meaghan, that is Charlotte in the pink tutu.

Charlotte in the luggage cart.

Do you remember when your babies ate spaghetti with their fingers with much gusto. Here we go with Rose. Who would know that was little Rose.

This little beauty is our great granddaughter Catherine in Quebec. She told her mother today that she would like to go to Vancouver. I had no idea she even knew of Vancouver. I would love to have her visit. But that will not happen.
We'll have to go there again. Not that it makes me unhappy.

This little bureau entranced me, well it is painted red and that entices me as usual. Still I would like to have it.

And this cartoon amused me greatly. Have a cuppa. A very large cuppa. LOL.

I am into history right now reading the book of the German grandfather of an English man, who was a member of the German SS. The book is beautifully written and well researched.
Now we are watching a Biopic of King George V and Queen Mary.
I mostly knew what it pictured , still find it done in an interesting way.

Dog and cat in one picture today.

Time to close folks.
Have a great evening.
Good night!
You there on the end get out of the rain.

A little project for the beginning of the new school year  either for your favourite student or your favourite teacher.

Jean, this one is for you, all we Canucks hang out at Tim's. LOL.

Ray and I shopped for our groceries today and after we were done we went to Mr. Ho's. It is so nice to go there as they all remember us and aks where we have been. It has been a while since we were there as we ususally go when we have company and not much company has come our way recently. We ordered three dishes as the give you huge platters of food . Of course we cannot eat it all and took some home for dinner tonight. We had Chow Mein, Boneless garlic fried pork and Almond Gai Ding.

After that we came home. I put the groceries away as Ray had to go out again. Then I washed the apples, tomatoes and radishes, dried them all off and put the radishes in a container.

My next job was to wash the fabrics that I bought  yesterday, dry them and iron them all along with some I had here already. I also ironed Ray's shirt so he would not have to do it. He does do his own ironing if I don't get there first and beat him to it.
Here he is ironing something ,I don't know what it is though. He ironed a shirt the other day. He can do everything!

Searching out things I want to put on the blog also takes quite a bit of time.
It is hard to find time to sew. Maybe tomorrow but I do count washing and handling the fabric as actually sewing as it is a part of it. So today was a bit of everything.

Today's Block of the Day.
Fanny's Favourite

Among the heather , my lovely DIL Lisa in Scotland. With Adam. I like this photo of her.
They are having a wonderful trip and are there for a month. I think they will be home soon.

Richard is now in Newfoundland on the last leg of his cross Canada trip. I hope it has been a wonderful time for him. He has not sent any photos. Emma and I were asking him about that. No answer so far.

I called Peter tonight and he is still in Calgary, but says he will be coming home next weekend and will visit us.

Jim is out on his farm, I call it a farm but it is acreage and he has it all set up for camping.
Jim is
the one in the rose coloured shirt.

That's all folks.
Have a lovely evening. It is beautiful here.

Good evening.

at the fabric store

Ray took me to Fabricana today. I wanted some Hallowe'en fabrics, well one holiday fabric and some red and yellow.
Ann was there and she gave me such a big hug. It was good to see her looking so well. We had a little chat. She had gone to Joann's because in her line of business she see many quilters and they talked about Joann's. So she wanted to see what the noise was all about. Now think about it she works on a store that sells pretty decent fabric. So needless to say she was a bit disappointed in Joann's fabrics.  They do have a huge selection of goods but Fabricana has all you might need too.And no line ups at the border.
Sounds good to me. We went there once on our way home from a visit to the states and they did not have what I wanted . I wanted a template of some kind. I bought no fabric.
This is the fabric I bought today and also I bought some Thermore for the batting part of my table runner. I like that because it is  very thin and lays flat  on the table.

The fabric on the right is from the Hallowe'en collection. The others are not as if you needed me to tell you that LOL.

On the way home from  Fabricana we got lost again. What is it ,

you just miss one  Exit and you are lost forever. We missed two

exits but got to New Westminster and found our way home from

there LOL. We had to go for bread and I had a little conversation

with a man at the lottery booth who told me his mom had left him

$80.000 and none to her other children because he was the one who

took care of her in her old age and the others did nothing.

Amazing what people will tell you isn't it.

I called Marg tonight and she said she and Mona went to the PNE

yesterday as it was free to Seniors. She said it was not that exciting

 this year.

I found this barn quilt on the net and thought you might enjoy seeing this.  I like barns.

Evening Star , today's Block of the Day.

Cats love to be in a sewing mood. Many people tell me their cats get in the mood to sew by sticking their heads into the machine.

My lovely grand daughter Kate out for a day in the park with a friend. She is Rick's daughter, lives and goes to University in Toronto. She is working on her Masters at the university of Toronto.
I am reading a new book about a man who discovers that his grandad was in the SS during WW2. He decides to go on a hunt for more information about his grandfather. It is very interesting , I am just into it do far.
Little bean bags, aren't they cute. I think they could be made without instructions. What they are for is beyond me LOL.

Out for a walk with a friend. Once again I see a horse as a good friend.

Two homeless dogs looking for a loving home. I hope they find one soon.

Time to go folks.
Have a good evening.

lunch date

We met up with Bob and Buzz for lunch. Bob said to me you have to get your blog out early around 6:00 because Buzz won't go to bed until she has read it.
Bob is in the pink since his stay in the hospital. He looks like a happy elf, but he is as you can see a big boy. But I love his pink shirt.
Bob and I both look pretty in pink.... Now have a look at Ray and Buzz , see anything strange.
Well not really strange but both Ray and Buzz  wore yellow. No collusion either.
We had a great visit as usual.

After we had lunch , Salad for both of us and a visit we went to Sears to see if we could find anything good to buy but neither of us felt like buying anything so we just looked.

We came back to the food court as that is the door we use to park the car and decided we wanted some Dairy Queen. We bought one sundae with 2 spoons and that worked well for us . A nice time spent with friends and by ourselves.
We came right home after that. I finished reading the book that was on my Reader.
this photo is of the flower beds in the middle of the street. Burnaby sure brightens up the roads with the gorgeous gardens.

That done I went to  rummage around in my stash, What a mess that is. But I did find some fabrics to audition for the borders and binding of the little quilt top I almost finished yesterday.
Here are the contenders...haha.

For sure the strip will be the binding. As for the first little border I think it will be orange and the border black. Yes that looks okay to me.

Lots of quilts

Have you ever noticed how friendly horses are to other species. The relate to birds, cats, kids and other friendly creatures.
Look at this one nosing up to an owl. I love horses and loved riding them when I was a teenager on my uncle's farm in Alberta.

Not certain if I showed this one already but aren't the adorable, beautiful pups Daisy. And what a good mom you are- taking them all for a walk on a sunny day.

Rick is now In Nova Scotia , I am thinking he may be ready to take the trip back home. I hope so, I worry lots about him. All the time actually is when I fret.

This is the end Buzz and early enough so that you don't have to stay up until midnight LOL. Thanks for a great visit today.

Good night!
