antique

I found some wonderful pictures of antiques today so that will be a good part of my blog for tonight. I hope you enjoy looking at them.

A place to sit.
This wonderful curved back settee a seat for two and just behind the settee is the matching chair a place for one to sit .

Beautiful chairs abound on the internet. This one has a wonderful carved back and fascinating net as part of the backing for this chair

A very elegant settee, more for show rather than use. Fabulous carved backing.
.

The Morris chair was very popular when I was a kid . I never knew why as they were anything but comfortable. I did not like them but they are entered into the history of the chair. See the little chair on the left, made for a child and a small copy of the Morris chair.

One more old stove in perfect condition.

And that is all folks . Back to the ordinary tomorrow.
I hope you enjoyed the show.

Have a great evening.

Good night.

Tonight's heart.

Another view

This is my quilt with triple sashing and nine patch cornerstones. I really like that look.
Last night I showed a butterfly quilt with single sashing and corner stones and promised to display mine tonight.
.These butterfly blocks are ready for my next quilt. I need to get at it soon.  This one is also pretty and the blocks are many colours.

Whoops I almost forgot to write the blog, was too busy watching Midsomer Murders.  I love that I can watch it on  my laptop. That means I'm in charge of what I watch. John Nettles is Inspector Barnaby and I really like him. I don't watch it in the daytime , save it as a treat for the evening. Too much of a good thing makes it dull and dreary so I restrict myself to the evenings.

We stayed in all day today. I took a couple of pictures of my quilt to show for tonight.  I worked my laptop most of the day. I must remember to go to the computer and print the medications list for Ray and me to take to the doctors when we go. They always ask for a list of medications.

There are still some quilts to show so here we go.

This looks easy to make, I can see a table quilt with all different colours of mugs. Wouldn't that be great!  But I do love this pink fabric.

These are great hot pads, mostly done by folding. I have one that I bought at a quilt show a while ago. I have a pattern but have never made one of these though I do admire them a lot.

These cubes are lovely. This would make a great wall hanging. The colour variations all go together so well. Great Quilt.

Words to live by. This gorgeous red cardinal lives in the east . I wish he lived here in the west. I don't think I have ever seen one.

Time to go folks. Have a lovely evening.

Good night.

Tried and True

www.quilterscache.com/C/CardTrickBlock.html

This is an old favourite  block of mine , the Card Trick.  It still looks really good.

Many quilts today. This one is like the one on my bed, just the sashing is different. Mine has a triple sashing and nine patch corner blocks.  I love mine ,so much so that I actually had to mend a couple of the butterflies the other day.  Tomorrow I'll take a photo of the one on my bed and put it on this blog.

Here a lovely basket quilt with a four patch acting as the centre of the block.

Circles of the west. Just a joke of mine, my jokes are seldom very funny but I laugh!!

Someone loves dogs in spectacles.

Kind of like a Dresden Plate but far too busy. Still pretty though.

Many Pinwheels , many sizes, many colours, mucho attractive.

The cat likes Dear Jane blocks. Once a long time ago I belonged to a Dear Jane club and made a number of those blocks. However the club disbanded and I did not make any more blocks. I should make a few more and make a top.

Kitties on a pink row quilt, would look pretty on a little girl's bed.

So many quilts today and still not finished but they will have to stay in the file, maybe more tomorrow.

This is an unusual ,to us, wedding gown because of its rare colour. but it has lovely lace at the neck and at the hem of the gown.

Anyway that is all for tonight. Have a great evening.

Good night.

reptile

The night of the crocodile.   That would make a great title for a film . Hah it sounds somewhat like The Night of the Iguana.   It won't work and then I don't even have a story.  But I do like alligators , at a distance. When I go to Louisiana I always want to go to the large park where there are many alligators. Once we saw a huge guy lying on a bank beneath a tree. He was lazy that day but if he got excited he could move very quickly. The average alligators were lured to the boat we were in by marshmallows and then eager to eat the chicken pieces we threw from the boat.  Some odd kind of fun but it was fun.

Now this little guy is showing great initiative and sewing something. I can't tell what but it is a great picture.

I just ate three cookies and drank a bottle of water. That was dessert LOL.

Ray wants to go over to Surrey tomorrow to order Netflix for the TV. If there is a box to go with it we will have to get them to send over a technician to activate it. I did not need anything for Netflix on my laptop so maybe it wont be necessary. Ray just said that I get Netflix on my laptop through the internet but we don't have it on the TV.  We'll see when we get there.  He would like to watch Midsomer Murders too.

Today Ray had to go to two doctors. First in the morning to see Dr. Weiss about his pain. But no needles this time as the pills have done such a good job of relieving his pain.  Then we went to Dr. Van Wyk our family doctor . She gave me a prescription  to help with my shakiness. But the pharmacy did not have that prescription on hand. I need to go to another store tomorrow.

Nice looking boy this one.

I love this quilt, the penguins are lovely. And it is applique . I am having a hard time finding some applique to do for my Tuesday group. Maybe I can draw up some penguins or find some on the internet.

Lastly this spool quilt , looks like an easy task but not applique.

Time to go folks,  have a lovely evening.

Good night.

A neat quilt of squares see instructions below.

Check out the instructions to find out how and where to begin this quilt.

Today Matthew came over and took Ray to  Holy Family to see Dr. Weiss for his shoulder. He was supposed to go for a needle in it but because he has new pills that take care of the pain he did not need to go for the needle. Thank you Matthew for the help. We appreciate your caring.

I spent the day on my computer and tonight I plan to watch Midsomer Murders on my laptop too.

The plans to sink an old navy ship have been scrapped as it  is claimed that the paint will be toxic to sea life.  I wonder what they will do with it now.

When I stay home all day and don't do anything there is not much to talk about.  Especially if I don't do much of anything during the day.  Kathy called on my facebook to see if I am going to guild on Wednesday. Ray thinks it is too much for me to go out for the evening as I get pretty tired. I hope I am more able next month. I want to get back into the swing of things.
Pat called to see if I was ready yet to go to sewing day Tuesday. Same thing next month I plan to start going again. I need to up my social commitments and want to get back to things.

I like this quilt, the green appeals to me.

I could not find a pattern though I did search for one but  It is up anyway as I like this quilt and am sure others will too. Maybe someone can figure out what the pattern/design is.

Sometimes I cannot take a picture off the internet, it is totally blocked. I have been trying to get one down for a while but to no avail. You probably would not even like it anyhow. It was a photo of a field of alligators,  quite interesting.  Still it would have been a good one to see.

I am going to watch Midsomer Murders  on my laptop  now.

So have a very good evening folks.

Good night.

Adam and Marley great grandchildren in Louisiana.

Great granddaughter Charlotte.

response to Jean

Jean in response to your question. I forgot to publish the two issues of my blog. But I think they are up now even though the date is wrong.  You may be right too much Netflix. I am so enjoying  watching my show on the laptop.  That is Midsomer Murders , great series.
But I will get this blog up,thanks for the reminder.

A very quiet day here we did not even go out the door. We did some laundry, Ray made a big pot of vegetable soup which we had for dinner. It was delicious. I might have some more later. Ray is such a good cook and I always enjoy his offerings.  I've been thinking of what a wonderful husband he is, I am very fortunate to have him in my life.

We watched TV and I played my laptop and had a long look at my pictures. That was fun to see all those photos , some of them oldies.

You may think you'll never need a pattern of an airplane but life is funny and one day you may need this one.  I had thought I'd never have to have a pattern for a plane but lo and behold one guild meeting I discovered I just had to have one for a guild project. So here is an airplane for your records.

Newly weds, my grandson Rich, Adam's son, and his new wife June. They are a handsome couple. They live in Louisiana where Adam and Lisa live. They each have a child from a previous marriage. Rich had a son Adam whom you have seen before on my blog. And June has a lovely daughter Marley.

Kansas Troubles    nice block.

I hate it when I lose a picture. Rich sent me a photo of Adam and Marley and I cannot find it. I have been looking for it. Maybe I'll find it LOL.

That's it folks.
Thanks for reading.

Have a great evening.

Good night.

opposites attract

Opposites Attract  is the name of this block. I am sure this is just one of many names. Most quilt blocks have more than one name.

This is yesterday's blog. I forgot to finish it so now it is today's blog LOL.

As for today Ray and I went to the casino and neither of us won this time.  We have not been since November as we did not go in Calgary. The purpose of that visit was to spend time with Richard and the family which is what we did.
Rick and his grandson Quinn. don't know who the foot belongs to though LOL.

We did a bit of grocery shopping this morning came home , put it all away and then went to the casino. That was our day.

I have discovered that I can get Netflix on my laptop and so can watch Midsomer Murders on it. I am so happy to have found that out. Now I can watch my show and Ray can have the TV which he does anyway.  I plan to do that when I am finished this blog.

This is a pretty little quilt , see the puppy likes it too. He has good taste. Variations of turquoise with white is the colour scheme. I like this one. But then I usually like the quilts I put up on the blog.

I spoke to Sam tonight and we have arranged to meet on Monday morning for a bit of lunch. I am sure looking forward to seeing him.
We did not get together at Christmas obviously.

Jim on the right with two of his friends. Jim is my #4 son. He sure looks good for a man in his mid fifties. He keeps himself fit.

this picture is adorable......

another family affair.....that is a lot of cubs.

Time to close, have a lovely evening.
                Good night.

education for women and girls

Download now as a pdf pattern

I just read a very interesting article on education for women in earlier times. How they were considered to have little in the way of brains and received only education in the housewifely arts. I hope they were taught to read. I cannot even think of not being able to entertain myself by reading a book.
Lady Caroline Lamb

I just got waylaid by biographies of Lady Caroline Lamb, Lord Byron and Anne Boleyn. I have read many pieces of Anne Boleyn and find her so interesting. That period of history with Henry VIII and his six wives is one of great interest to me and has been for s great part of my life.  Anne Boleyn is a fascinating study  of a tragic life. She  gave birth to Elizabeth the 1st and ushered in the Great Elizabethan Age.

Back to the life of Nan and Ray. We did get out today even if it was just to Safeway for bread and juice.

We did some housework , Ray did most of it. He has some new pills from the doctor for his arthritis and they are magical. He is able to do whatever he wants.

The day is very foggy and so it is tonight as well. Ray just looked out the window and said the fog was right down to the ground. I do not like fog, it leaves you feeling dirty and damp. I remember walking home from school when I was young and how awful that for made me feel.

This is what it looks like outside, gloomy isn't it.

Another view of a foggy day.

This makes me laugh ,remember those photo booths where you and your best friend had your photos taken. These dogs did just that. I love the dog top right with his tongue out. How cheeky. LOL.

Wow this is wonderful. I call the pattern Spider Web. Gorgeous colours.

Love this rooster.

Here we are another family affair.

Good night folks.
