another one

Did I forget to blog last night, I just checked and I did forget. What on earth was I doing. Reading I think.

Today is Richard's birthday. I hope it was a good birthday my dear.
Love you.

A non busy day today. We went out to the big mall and had lunch there. It was Chinese food and not bad!
We walked around the mall for exercise and notice that there were several stores that had closed since the last time we were there. Things are getting difficult in the retail world I guess. I always feel badly for stores that fail. I had a store once and know how much work goes into setting it up, financing it and running it. Then closing it is another set of difficulties. However it was an adventure and an experience.  It was also too much for me to handle along with working every day .
We did not buy anything though. It is awful, we do not need a thing nor do we want anything so we seldom purchase and goods.

Lovely Dresden Plate. However I am not sure I like the blue background, I do love Dresden Plates though.

Here is a small unfinished top that is meant to be  a baby quilt. It is attractive with basic colours, almost primary colours.

This is a great quilt with repeat blocks making it seem as if sewn in 3D. It appears to be three dimensional to me like the blocks are rising up off the quilt.

So good night to all and have a lovely evening.

have a sip

Happy Sunday, have a one on me and Ray.

Another very hot day today, clear skies of course, no breeze at all. I love it when there is a bit of breeze along with the sun.   Thunder storms during the night along with lightning.
Weather report done for tonight.
I do not like the lightning as it has the potential to ignite fires. Ray and I live in a highly forested urban area and everything is so dry. No lightning please Lord.

Ray and I had a lovely day. We were at the Farmer's Market to purchase some vegetables and fruit. We wandered around and made our purchases  then went over to the White Spot across the way for ice cream. Strawberry for Ray and strawberry and chocolate for me. I first ordered one scoop of chocolate but Ray's strawberry looked so delicious that I ordered another scoop of Strawberry. Both were  delicious.  We then went home as we were afraid our veggies and fruits would suffer from the extreme heat. It was good to get home to our comfortable Air Conditioned apartment. We stayed in and enjoyed the comforts of home.

We had corn on the cob for dinner. It was delicious. the fresh early corn is always good and tasty.
Then we had fresh strawberries and whipped cream for dessert.

My Adam and Lisa are in Scotland at the British Open in St. Andrew's Scotland.
My Richard had a 60th Birthday party in Calgary last night. I called but the party was in full swing and Rick could not talk to me. Peter and Jim were there. I wish I could have gone but it was not to be this time. But I am happy Richard got to celebrate his 60th birthday even though his birthday is on the 21st  of July. My mother's birthday was the 18th of July. That is yesterday .

From Facebook, log cabins with redwork embroidery. This is so pretty. I love red.

Looks rather Canadian doesn't it?  All those wonderful maple leaves in such lovely colours. I really like this one. It was on Facebook.

More Log Cabin, I like this one  a lot. The colours are just great.

If you had not seen one of these it is a Long Arm quilting machine. Amazing piece of work and does wonderful quilting.
Okay folks , it is time to go. I hope your evening is great and you sleep well.
Good night.

a visit with grandchildren and their mom

Lost the picture , hope you can figure it out.

Ryan , Ray, Nan and Chelsea at Tim Horton's. Caroline too the photo.

We had a wonderful morning with Caroline, Ryan and Chelsea. Chelsea is visiting from Toronto. It was so great to see her and to have the opportunity to talk about her life in TO.
Ryan was so handsome and is so nice to talk to as well. Thanks to Caroline for bringing my grandchildren to visit. I am so grateful  as I enjoyed the visit with all three of you. If there is a chance I would love to do this again before Chelsea goes back to Toronto. If Ryan comes over from Gibsons in the future can we get together again.

Old jeans , don't know what to do with them. Make a quilt with plaids and denim. It will be very heavy but also very warm. Recycle!
After we separated Ray and I shopped for groceries. We spent 42 dollars. What is going on here LOL.  I bet we'll shop again before the week is out.

Then we went to the casino, it was not a winning day for us but we had fun and filled in the afternoon. Now don't think that we don't know what to do of an afternoon but some times we like to gamble.  We had a sandwich at the casino restaurant around 4:30 so when we came home we were not hungry for dinner. So no cooking for me LOL. Good news.

Chelsea and friends, I found this on Facebook and love it. It made me laugh.

It was a great day all round and I am a happy camper tonight.

Have a lovely evening folks.
                                    Good night.

cherries

I was just reading all my facebook messages and of course forgot to remember that I had a blog to write.  Why are the messages so engrossing when they actually say very little of any consequence.
I look mostly for my family messages and then friends. I love to hear from my boys , all five of them. Hear me oh sons of mine.  LOL.

Ray had to go to the doctor today. He was told he had a cyst on each kidney but was also told not to worry. I ask you can you not worry about your beloved husband when you hear this news. He has already had cancer and had his prostate removed. I know they tell him it is not dangerous to have cysts but I of course do not like it and intend to worry. As I tell my sons it is my job to worry. If I don't who will LOL.

I am feeling dizzy tonight, I don't like that feeling at all.

We went out for a little bit today, it was another gorgeous day in Vancouver. It has been like this for some weeks. It reminds me of the summers we had here when I was a teenager. We used to take the bus to Kitsilano beach for the day. We tanned and got brown if we had the right skin colour. I got pink but my sister Marg got brown. I used to envy her that wonderful tan. My brother Peter was  like me and burned badly. He died when he was fairly young , in his forties. It was such a tragedy. That whole year was bad, my beloved dad passed away, then my dear mom went a year later and six months after Peter did of a heart condition. There were just Marg and me left of our birth family. It was devastating.

Isn't this a delightful little cottage in Chemainus B.C.  over on Vancouver Island. I used to go there often when I visited my friend Donna. We would go there for lunch , it was a British pub style lunch and was excellent. We'd sit outside on the deck and enjoy the ambience. Since Donna passed away I have not gone there.

Oh well so much for remembering, good memories but that is in the past.

We bought BC cherries today and ate them all. They were wonderful. The first cherries of the season are always fabulous.

Makes me drool. Love these early cherries.

Churn Dash seems to be quite popular right now, this is a nice one.

Time to go folks. Have a great evening.
                          Good night.

Is this Thursday?

I think it is.

We had a great visit with Bob and Buzz this morning, It lasted two hours and we talked the whole time. I do enjoy our visits with them.  I think we are so fortunate to have such good friends. This was the major event of the day. After we split up Ray and I went for a walk around Metrotown for the exercise. We stopped off in Sears and I bought a new red top. It was on sale for a really fair price. I did not try it on because it was the size I usually buy. Tomorrow I'll wear it and take a photo .
Then we walked back to the food court which is where we need to pass through to get to our car. We bought a small sundae at Dairy Queen for a treat. It took a while to eat it  so we observed the surrounding scene. Nothing of any great interest though. There are quite a few businesses all boarded up. It must be time for renewal of the licence to do business.  I hate to see businesses fail and go broke. It is a personal difficulty and also one for the mall as well. Ray and I had a business in a mall a long time ago so we know how it feels for the business to collapse.  But life is like that.  It is like an escalator, it goes up and down. My bit of philosophy for today LOL.

Now is this business as usual or is it entertainment. Meaghan and Charlotte framed. I love it. Meaghan is so creative and I am sure Charlotte loves the show.

Found this on Facebook, the pups would be easy to make  and they look like fun. I like the dark blue face, it is different.
Time to go folks.
Have a lovely evening.
                        Good night.

most overdue

Oh my I almost forgot my blog again. My memory is failing LOL.

But it did come back if a bit late.

The day was quiet. I don't even think we went out, however if we did it would have been for just a little while and easy to forget.
I'll ask Ray.
Yes we went to Tim's   for a doughnut and coffee. It was another gorgeous day with the sun shining brightly.
It is quite warm these days and even this far into the night it continues to be warm.

I found this on Facebook today, my favourite quilting  girl Sunbonnet Sue.  This one is quite pretty, all the girls are dressed in different colours. That is what I would do too. I made one of these years ago and all the girls were different. I am contemplating making another one. Better start soon if I want to finish it.

Now this is a quilt loaded onto a long arm machine if you were wondering what that looks like. These machines are so great for quilting a big quilt.

I love this lady, she is so elegant. And she is reading a book which signifies intelligence. Beauty, brains and wine, the perfect combination. Too bad I am unable to tolerate wine but I have the other two LOL.

There see what I mean  LOL.   Ray looks good too.  We are so happy.

That is it folks. Have a lovely evening.

                    Good night.

today

So here is the blog for today.  Sorry about yesterday ,   I forgot to write it.

We stayed in today and did very little. BUT we had lovely company. Mary and Albert came to visit with the two little ones, Rose and Quinn.

I took a lot of pictures of Quinn and not so many of Rose. How did that happen. Now I am sorry about that. Next time I will even it out a bit.  But right now I can't find those pictures. I wonder where I put them .  I'll find them some time tonight.

Found them!

It was a great time with our visitors. I love that.

Quinn investigating the little lamp.

Rose and Albert checking out one of those things with pictures on it and games too.  It is amazing what pre school children learn these days about electronics. Parents are also pretty wonderful as the encourage the learning.

When my Matthew started school the teacher told me he could read at a Grade 6 level  and pointedly asked me if I had taught him to read. I hadn't, Matthew just read. Who knows how he learned. It just came naturally to him. It was as big a surprise to me as it was to the teacher. Kids are amazing.

Quinn cleaning up on the bread crusts from Rose's sandwich.

Rose chatting to dad ( Albert) , Quinn standing in line. Looks like fun he thinks.
It was fun with everybody here.

We stayed in after everybody left. We just decided to stay home today.

Jim,  my 4th son on the right and his friend. They look as if they are having a good time. Summer time is the right time for outdoor activities even if it is just sitting out in the yard.

This is a super little mat for whatever you want to use it for. I love hearts.

Nice triangle quilt top.

Now this is concentration. I hope she gets it to work.

That is all for tonight folks.

Have a great evening.
                                    Good night.
