Grape Basket- block of the day bu Quilt Pro. Another early block for me. Funny how these blocks are returning to my life. 

I am late tonight as I got lost fiddling around with the laptop and  was unable to get this started on time. 

Father's day today. I hope all dads had a nice day. I know some did not see anyone and I am sad for that, but I hope all dads heard from their family. Ray's and my kids are all over the country as you know but we heard from most of them. I hope the other's just forgot and I hurts them LOL. I have hot opinions on days dedicated to moms and dads and the pain it can cause when you don't hear from your children. I think there shouldn't be special days and that every day should be a special day and that anyone can call on any day. We would all be happier then I think. Anyway that is MHO. and not so humble at that LOL.
I took Ray our for breakfast this morning. It was pleasant. We came home and went out later  for bread. I had a short nap time, read my e book and then we watched TV for the late afternoon. I made an easy supper and that was all we did today. But it was nice for Ray and for me. We did get a lot of calls since we have 7 children and lots of grandchildren but only Meg and Sam called Ray today.
My friend Jan called to remind me that Pot Luck is next Friday and Karen would pick me up.
I bought HELLO magazine yesterday. It is the first time I have ever purchased it but often have seen it in offices. I want to see what is going on with the Royal Family. The Queen and Prince Philip are getting on but still carrying out their royal duties.  She is 86 and he is 92 . Amazing!!
My best to Nelson Mandela as he recovers from his illness. He is 94. What stuff are these people made of I wonder. I am impressed.
That is enough politics for today.

I love this little pieced pincushion. Small block for the centre and tiny strips for the piecing around the centre and you have a tiny little log cabin block. Have fun making these. Of course you can't make only one.

How cozy is this and such a bossy cat. Have a good day cat!

Richard and Mary his eldest child, nearly 30 years ago. They both look so happy. 

We cut our paths everywhere. Or as my mom used to say cut your coat according to your cloth. I guess that could apply to quilting too. And we get out of doing things too LOL. 

And to all dads out there a very happy every day of the year.

Block of the Day  - Quilt Pro.

Little Geese by name and pretty in pink and blue. I once had a blouse in those colours and many decades later I still think of it with fondness.

We started our day as usual on a Saturday by going to the grocery store for our weekly shopping. I was not feeling well , okay I was feeling rotten so instead of our regular trip to TIM'S for coffee and a sandwich we came home. I had to lay down as soon as we got home. I slept. When I got up it was still not a very good day but I was hungry so I ate. I have managed to stay up ever since. 

However we did nothing so there isn't anything to talk about . I did not hear from Richard but talked to him on Facebook. Peter was on Facebook too so we talked briefly about the golf competition and who was winning. It wasn't Tiger Woods , he was way down in the standings but Peter told me he had injured himself. I think it was his wrist. Oh well that gives somebody else the opportunity to wear the green jacket. 

I am thinking that it is time for me to get something to eat again. Ray had a tomato sandwich but I am off bread these days . I bought a small bag of greens so I think that would be a good choice.

This looks delicious but I don't have any bocconcino, maybe another day. I have to go to my teacher potluck on Friday so it would be good to make that.

More food , our darling Rose eating her dinner surrounded by lobster items, even her spoon. So sweet she is already feeding herself. Clever girl!!

I found this one today and thought it was so adorable and very funny!

Now this one is great, three cubs up the tree. Mom must have been very busy with these three. I think she  had them up the tree because there may have been danger. And what could mean danger to a bear.... Man!

How's t his for a star. It's a star in a star in a star. No pattern , but I'll check back for one.

It is called a pencil pouch but I wonder if it will hold a tiny applique iron. It is a nice little pouch and could be made to do double duty with a bit of creative additions.

So today I had an appointment with the doctor who removed my bladder. It was interesting as he told me some thing I was not aware of durong my long stay in hospital in 2011. He told me that they almost lost me several times. During the surgery or during the recurring infections , I am not certain what. I was too surprised to ask him any questions. But as you can see I have survived very well.

Then we went and had some Chinese food. We order one plate and both eat from it. Then we went to our little mall to buy some stamps. After we went inside the mall and saw Marg there. We didn't stay for long though. When we got h ome I had a nap. Old age is a time when you seem to get so tired in the afternoon. I do like the naps but wished it didn't waste so much time.

I am praying for my dear Daughter in Law who lost her father two days ago. My deepest sympathies to you Lisa and to my son who lost his father in law. 

Also I pray for those in Colorado who are beset with fire. I have and internet friend who lives there and I am praying for Susan to escape the terror of this tragic fire. It is a horror to see. And to be close to this fire must leave the people in absolute terror.

I do so much praying lately. Rick is always on my list to receive prayers. So too my other family members.

The eagle soars alone and high , spreads his wings and floats on the winds. Is there anything that could be as marvellous as that? It has so much freedom.

Little ladies at the sewing machine. Frankly I can hardly see the details because my eyes are very bad tonight and all day for that matter. They are constantly blurred so I am having to cut short my blog tonight and give them a rest.

No picture of this pair of socks but I think if you click you will find the pattern. I love these self striping yarns and have made quite a few pair of socks for friends and for myself.

It was a do nothing day today, I needed that after a busy Tuesday and Wednesday. We just went out this morning around noon and thought we would respond to an advertisement from Little Caesar's Pizza and order a lunch pizza. So we ordered a medium classic pizza at the counter and took it home to eat. We have never done that before. It was not a very good pizza and we won't do that again. I wonder why eating places don't offer good product even for a better price if necessary. All they do is lose customers forever.

Looks good  but not so good. 

When we came home I had to lay down and Ray went out again. I caught up on lost sleep and feel fine now. It is necessary for me to get the right amount of sleep or I am a zombie. I recall when I was young I could get by on the smallest amount of sleep and still carry on but not any more. 

So I read for a while and then slept a while. I always read first before I sleep. It does something to my brain, relaxes it I guess. I have always loved to read and during the day there isn't a lot of time unless I nap so I get caught up then .Marg brought me over some, I have one from Sharon and a couple I bought as well as one on my e reader. I like to have lots of back up LOL.

Remember when I mentioned that there were 6 star blocks to do for guild and that I handed them in last night. Here they are.

It was fun to make them and I asked if there were more to do for the summer. The answer was no. Too bad, it was a small task I felt comfortable doing. Maybe I'll just set up some blocks of my own for Community Quilts or Pumpkin Seeds as it is now called.

What a lovely block this one is and such neat fabrics. It is a bit more work than other Dresden Plates with the curved centre and the pointed quarter  bits.

Such a nice little getaway for those who want to get away from it all for a bit of time. Or is it somebody's year round log cabin home. Whatever it is it looks lovely and takes one back to an earlier simpler era.What an adorable dog, smiling and wanting to hug you. What could be better?

We did not have a sewing machine in my childhood home. But we did have knitting needles and mom taught me how to knit and embroidery.

guild night

It is guild night but before that I will be going out for dinner with the ladies. 
So my blog will be late tonight. It will be after 10:00 before I can get back to it.

Kathy picked me up and we met Barb for dinner at Minerva's. Barb and I had ravioli stuffed with mushrooms in a cream sauce. Kathy had a Greek salad. Barb and I had dessert. I had a parfait which I had never had before and thought it was darn near time LOL. Barb had cheese cake and Kathy had none. Good girl Kathy :>)

At the guild meeting we had stations set up with different quilty thing going on at each station. I didn' t get to all the stations but was able to chat with quite a few friends and I think I may have made a couple of new friends.  There was one block being made that was a different techniique and I was interested but so far I haven't been able to recall the name of the block. Ruth said it was on Quiltmaker.com but I haven't been able to find it. It starts with Anita's and there I have lost it. Jocelyn, if you can remember let me know.

There was a nice lunch set out for the last guild night until September. I didn't eat anything because I was still full. Too bad!
It was funny but nearly everyone I talked to was so tired, it was like a disease . Kathy was tired and so was I . Most of us left early as did we.

This makes a great potholder. I made one once and it was fun to do. So if you have a few hours to spare and want to make something cute to give as a gift or make for the guild bazaar at the quilt show, here's your chance. 

I think the apple for the teacher just tempted him too much!

This was my sewing day . I had some real trouble with my legs today, they were so shaky and so were my arms, that I only went to one of my groups. It was of course the morning one LOL. And I continued to applique hearts along with Betty, Helen, Sharon and Joan. A lot of heartful ladies in our group today. The group was fairly large today and so we had lots of conversation and good humour.  
Pat picked me up and we went for Starbucks. I had not made anything for my lunch so bought it at Starbucks. It was a sandwich. There was a great bakery counter and they carry wonderful sadnwiches but they cost over $7.00 so I thought I'd buy one at Starbucks as it was just a bit over $6.00 I should have bought the $7.00 one. I'll know better another time. Money isn't everything!!
As I was not at my best this morning I came home with Pat instead of going to Community Quilts. However I had brought some fat quarters of reptiles for CQ and asked Betty to take them to the group for me. I thought they would make a nice quilt for a boy. You know how boys like reptiles .... Yeah Right!! 

I lay down and read for  a bit after I came home. Then Ray wanted to go to Hop On's for some produce. We went but I have to say since they sold the business the produce is not quite as good and the people were actually rude. We picked up and went to The Crossings to the produce store there. They had good stuff , were friendly and we'll buy there from now on.
We came home and washed all the things we bought . I cut and washed the radishes since Marg finished them off yesterday LOL. It's a joke Marg!   Looks good though.

I sprayed the lettuce and washed the apples, then Ray finished off the rest.

These quilts are so gorgeous. I once went to Sequim for a quilt show where they had a wonderful

section of Crazy Quilts. They were absolutely inspiring. I wish I could see those types of quilts again. It was the only quilt

show I saw that had a Crazy Quilt  section.
