A wonderful day with family again. Meaghan, Louis and sweet Charlotte came for a visit.
But this is Richard with his two granddaughters giving him a hand.

Charlotte loves Grandpa's jelly beans.
Aha she found the green ones, her favourites. See the smile :>)

Charlotte and Daddy doing a puzzle together .
Miss Charlotte picking up. Thank you dear Charlotte.

As you can see we had a lovely time with Charlotte. Meaghan and Louis were both good company.
Marg came over while they were here and Charlotte introduced herself to Aunty Marg. It was cute. She is cute.
When all had left I had some Thai rice for dinner and Ray had a tomato sandwich. Not a big meal but good enough for us. We are not very big eaters any more.

Quinn, Rose and the family cat. I don't know what the cat is called  but she is bigger than Quinn.

Family is always fun to entertain even though they actually entertain us. I am a happy camper when the kids come to call. Kids of all ages are so welcome here.

Richard having a beer, I wonder if it is to celebrate his birthday tomorrow the 21st of July. Happy Birthday my dear son. I hope  it is good for you.

We are watching a new show , new to us ,
Unforgettable. It is not bad, we may watch it again.

That's all folks.
Have a great evening.

Good night.

sewing news

Ever wonder how speedy friends knock out a quilt top in a day? Learn the secret to fast, fun & versatile projects with this collection of one-block quilt projects: http://bit.ly/1ri12H6

My great grandson Adam and his little friend at Disney World in Florida.

Another photo of Adam. He lives in Louisiana with his mom and sometimes his dad. He sure is growing. Boys do that don't they.

We had to go all the way out to Coquitlam this morning to complain about the new chair we just bought which had fallen apart at the back. They said they would send someone out today. And they did. the man fixed the chair and all is well. We ate lunch at Wendy's. I had the artery blocker Poutine. It was good but I only ate half of it.

Then I came home to wait for the repair man. Ray had to go to the pharmacy so I was all alone , poor me LOL.

I have been watching the forest fires on TV. 157 fires burning today and the impact is huge, smoke as well as fire makes the day feel like night. We are not affected here in Vancouver , it is mostly further north in the province. We are surrounded by trees but seem to be safe from danger.  Every year it seems forest fires burn up much of the forest in the province.

Isn't this great! Those black cats do look menacing.

Can't deny your genes.

Rick is going home today Ithink. He is in Abbotsford to see Meaghan and Charlotte. He took Mary out there for Rose to visit with Charlotte and then he took them fishing. Meaghan and Mary took charge of that event as Rick could not navigate the fine beach sand in his wheelchair. I hope they all had fun though.

Create a permanent ice cream cone.

I see the weather has cooled down a bit, that makes things more comfortable. Tomorrow should be a good day.
This little Snail's Trail quilt is very attractive. A lap quilt I think.

A cameo brooch, pretty standard image on this one.

But this one is different as it tells a story and is very complicated.
I once had a lovely pink cameo that I bought in Florence Italy. then I washed it in the washing machine as it was on my top blouse and it cracked. A real tragedy. I still love cameos, they are beautiful.

That is it for tonight folks.
Have a lovely evening.

Good night.

a bit early ?

http://bit.ly/1ri12a0

A bit early but maybe it is time to start  on your Christmas projects. Then you will be ready when the time comes.

Some worth while information that could come in  useful some time.

And here are some quilting projects to admire or make, whatever suits you.

I know bears are not cute and cuddly but this bear and her three little bears warm my heart. She looks like she is hitching a ride. If you have never seen a baby bear you wouldn't know why bears have become toys. I saw a little bear once and that picture has never left me. He was adorable and I just wanted to cuddle him.

Rick brought Mary and the two little ones Rose and Quinn. It was lovely to see them, the baby is adorable and Rose is cute and a lot of fun.  We had a great time with them.
Rose hiding behind her hair. Mary says she is growing it so she can pull it back into a pony tail.
Mary with Quinn, he is very alert for a 7 week old baby. I think he is adorable.
Rose is tickling Quinn's arm.
Me with two babies  Oh how wonderful they are.

I thank Rick and Mary for a lovely day.

More hexagons and they are quite whimsical.

A lovely table runner. I made one in this pattern myself but mine was in beiges and cream. This one is lovely.

I think I'll finish with this .

Have a great evening folks.

Good night.

applique again

Richard's granddaughter Charlotte learning how to use scissors. The beginning of home schooling.
And here she is playing with the wooly mammoth that Rick brought for her from London England.

Rick has gone over to Victoria to see May and Albert and Rose and Quinn.

Ray and I went for tests this morning, fasting ones. Ray was okay as he had a standing order for his tests. I thought I had tests on file but no, they were not there so I have to go to the doctor tomorrow to get my requisition.
Then I went into the chiropractor's office, haven't been for months so I made an appointment for tomorrow. It will be a busy day.

So after the visits we went to IHOP and had something to eat. I had a single egg benny and coffee. And of course there were pancakes with butter and syrup. All very, very good.

Then we went to Safeway to pick up some prescriptions and a few bits and pieces. Home after that and a rest. We watched TV for the rest part- an old black and white  Crime of Passion with Claudette Colbert, Raymond Burr and Sterling Hayden. These old movies are really good stories. We like to watch them.

These are pretty blocks. I don't know how to make them, no pattern, and because of all the points would not have any idea of how to use them effectively. But nice to look at.

Footprints of somebody.

And here we have some lovely quilts.

We are now done for the day.

Have a good evening and enjoy yourselves.

Good evening!

diamond

Quilty Find ~> Diamond Quilt Tutorial #2

Two styles of diamond quilts.

Christmas Star.

Pam with a hexagon quilt. Isn't it gorgeous.

The Mini Marilyn Baby Quilt by Michelle Marr is a quilt - just very very tiny! You like miniatures, right?

Red and white , a different use of 9 patches.

Another day when I did not go out at all.  And did nothing either. It must be laziness. Or a bad case of computer infection.
We are waiting for Richard to show up but he called and said he was stopping in Abbotsford to see Meaghan and Charlotte so it would be after 7:00 when he gets here. I was hoping they would come here so we could share in the visit but Meg is working now and it is a long drive to get here.
Also we are waiting for the new chairs we ordered so I had to stay in as  Ray went out to Safeway for a short time.

Tonight I am making chili for dinner. Why I am cooking in this heat I have no idea but the AC is keeping us comfortable. So cooking it is. I don't have to do it for a while.
I spent a lot of time on my computer today just reading e mail and Facebook. How can this take up so much time I wonder.

Watching The Spanish Main with Paul Henreid and Maureen O'Hara. I remember this movie when I was a young teenager. We loved these romances, colour and romantic stars, evil strangers with too much power but good prevailed in the end. We loved these shows.
There they are Paul and Maureen.
Mary, Albert and Quinn. Mary has a great talent for positioning photos.

Almost bed time , got to get some hot chocolate.

Have a lovely evening folks.
Good night.

elephant

Here is an adorable free pattern I just came across...http://ideas.stitchcraftcreate.co.uk/free-soft-toy-sewing-patterns-elephant/

You can make perfectly crisp circles!
http://badskirt.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/mini-tute-really-good-circles.html

A little mommy time is a good thing.

And so is a little time with friends. We had lunch with Bob and Buzz today. Bob is looking good after his open heart surgery.  I am glad about that. Buzz is her usual healthy self.
Bob looking good and Buzz looking good too.

We had a great visit chatting and eating  and drinking . I had a coffee and then a Pepsi .   For lunch I had a cup of vegetable soup, Ray had no lunch today.
A selfie , first good one I have taken.

Sometimes he does that but he ate when we got home.
I made spaghetti and sauce for dinner. The sauce came out of a bottle  but it was good. Ray liked it too.  He cleaned up after. He usually does that when I make dinner and vice versa.  I like that, it is good.
After dinner we are just watching TV. Lazy evenings. Rick called to say he is spending the night in Kelowna or maybe Kamloops. I get those two cities mixed up. He will be here sometime tomorrow.
Rick is the one in the wheelchair. I met most of these friends when we were in Calgary and this picture is from the wedding they all went to. Emma is the lady in the blue dress.

Now this is family, just too cute.
