Blogless

Still sick so I am not writing the blog once again. If you spend the day in bed and do not dream there is nothing to write about. So it seems we are blogless.  Maybe tomorrow I will be better.

Have a good one folks.

I love this  block whether it is the colours or the shapes or both.
It is a lovely block and looks fairly easy.

I am still sick wth this cough and cold but it is getting a bit better. I have hopes for tomorrow. So I am getting in my TV watching caught up.  Today I watched a young Errol Flynn being civil war general.  He fought at the battle of  Little Big Horn and of  course did not come back to his family. I got the impression that it was a huge disaster for the Americans.
But that is all I did today except sleep a lot.  Isn't that bad?  But my night time sleep is not good.

We discovered today that our granddaughter is having a baby boy in a couple of months.  That will be Charlotte's mom Meaghan.
I am happy for her. That will make one of each for both sisters Mary and Meaghan. I had five boys, no girls. Do you detect a bit of envy in that sentence? But fortunately I do have four granddaughters and two great granddaughters. So I had to wait a bit but was lucky. Lots of grands for me. And I dearly love all my boys abd feel grateful for them. It is fairly unique to have that many sons.
Bos's stained glass quilt says to label on the quilt.

Can you relate to this one? Lots of ladies do and make comments on it.
And Keepsake Quilting in New Hampshire has benches outside for the husbands to sit on and chat with each other or read or whatever.

Looks like that is all folks for tonight.

Have a great evening.

Good night.

This is amazing, gorgeous piecing and stunning quilting.

A delightful bag perhaps for lunch.

Charlotte and friends

Charlotte buffing up a pony, seems to me to be on the wrong end if that pony gets ticked off.

Charlotte and her dear old friend Tucker who has been with her since she was born.  He is declining now at a ripe old age and she will be very unhappy when he goes. Everyone will be sad.

These two are good friends at the moment.
Ray had to go to see his doctor today about his shoulders but the doctor would not put the needles in them. He has to wait until next week now for the treatment because he had no one to drive him home. I called Matthew and he said he would take him next week.

I spent the day at home again as I still have that sore throat and am in some pain. I didn't even get out of my nightgown. I sure hope tomorrow is a lot better. I'm tired of not feeling well.

And that is all for tonight.

Good night.

I stayed in for another sick day, slept most of the day. Feeling a bit better now and hope it carries on until tomorrow. I don't like this.
I haven't even been able to read.Vision is all blurry.

So that's it for today, just being sick.

David sent this one in from Arizona- a storm in the desert. It has quite a mood. I love it. The suguaro is so stately and
commanding.

Today is Meaghan's birthday. I hope it was a great one Meg. Here is Charlotte with her mom's birthday Frappe.

A sampler quilt is very attractive.

It has great colours and a good variety of blocks.

This is an amazing piece of work. All the points on each block would scare me off at once but I can really admire how beautiful it is.

This is a great piece for your sewing room but you need to figure it out yourself as there is no pattern.

So now I am going back to bed.
Good night folks.

not over yet

I am still sick with this very sore throat and headache. I spent a part of the day in bed and was not able to go out at all today.
So another short blog.

I just read a short biography of Beethoven a composer that I have admired.  He died march 26th 1827 leaving behind a great legacy of music.

Hexagons on black.

Even if it's the cat. Try and move this guy.

Here a bunch of hounds. Interesting faces. Look closely, they are funny guys.

And here is a beautiful little girl who got hold of a pair of scissors and chopped off her hair thus requiring a trip to the hairdresser to fix it. She looks lovely doesn't she.

That's it folks I am feeling rotten.

Good evening.

That's all. Have a great night.

Good night.

sore eyes again

My eyes are very sore again especially the right one. I saw the eye doctor today and he gave me drops to put in my eyes 4 times a day. And things are quite blurry so I won't write a very long blog.
Ray also had his eyes checked and his one eye is getting better. His better, mine worse. I have to go back next week for another examination to see if the treatment has worked for me. We had to wait a long time in the eye doctor's office. The waiting room was packed. the doctor said he had done two surgeries in the morning and all the other doctors in the office were on holiday. that is why it was so busy. I hope next week it might be better.

We went for hair cuts this morning and waited a bit there. A good part of our day was spent waiting LOL.

Then we just came home and relaxed.  That was our day folks.

This is good for a laugh and my gosh this dog is big!!

So that is all folks , hope things are better tomorrow.

Good night.

Spring is here

Spring in Vancouver pictures taken by my niece Karin to express Spring. Wonderful isn't it?

Rain today , that is a spring thing here. But I like the rain. The days are not gloomy to me just gray, that's a good neutral colour. And it is also restful. The sound of rain on the roof sets the mood  for the day and for the night too. It is soothing.
My wonderful husband Ray taking a rest.

So we stay in today watching TV, old movies B+W, a trip to the past and a good journey too.

We washed my table topper in the washing machine today and it came out well. I don't put my quilted pieces in the dryer because I don't like the crumpled look after it comes out of the dryer so we hang it on the shower rod and let it air dry.  It comes out just the way I like it. Ray does the hanging because I am too short to get it up there properly.

Rick and Katherine have reached Galveston and this is the Bishop's Palace and here below is a house across the street, another beauty.

I love architecture and think this would be a great place to visit. Enjoy it Rick and Katherine.

Sometimes I think this could be me LOL.

Isn't this quilt wonderful, all the colours of the rainbow and all squared up with twenty squares in each block. I find this very attractive.  I think the measure is 2 1/2 inch squares. This would give a large square of 10 1/2 inches.

Time to go for tonight folks, have a great evening.
Good night.

Saxophones

Download now as a pdf pattern

Checkerboard Friends is the name of this block. It looks fairly complicated.

Our Chelsea performing on stage in Toronto. She and her saxophone and her friends.

This one is a beauty

We went to Costco's today and had their wonderful hot dogs for lunch. Then we bought the items we went for and of course, a few extra items like 2 books. They always have a good selection there and at a good price.  That was our outing for the day.
We stayed home for the rest of the day watching TV and reading.

Now we are watching my favourite show Midsomer Murders. It si only on TV once in a while, not a regular so it is a treat when it does show up.

My eyes are really bothering me today, They are stinging and
blurry. I will call the eye doctor tomorrow if they don't improve by morning. Maybe a good night's sleep will cure them.
Anyway this is becoming difficult so I'll sign off.

Have a great evening.

sewing

LOL boys.   I know I've shown this before but it always makes me laugh and I love it so sharing it again.

Cute pattern for a child's quilt.

I SEWED today finally, even Ray remarked on it. I had all my heart blocks sewn into rows so today I added strips between each row and sewed it all up. Well not quite all since I still have one row left to do, but I was tired and when I'm tired I make mistakes. So Ray decided that I needed to stop for the night.
I am pleased though at getting some work done. I feel encouraged.Ray asked me what I was going to do with it but I am not sure. Maybe I'll donate it to the hospital quilts.  Do you think a
heart quilt is good for a boy? If so I can send it to Quinn.
Now that I am back in the swing of it I am going to begin embroidering some blocks. It has been a long time since I embroidered too.

Ray went out today for some bread but I stayed in the apartment all day. However tomorrow we go to the blood clinic for Ray to get his blood drawn for tests that the doctor wants taken. Maybe we can go for lunch too. We talked about going to Metrotown , it has been a while since we went there. Ray has to go to the eye clinic to get his glasses fixed. The little nose grips leave marks on his nose so he wants to get them checked out.

My lovely granddaughter Chelsea playing her saxophone one of the many instruments she plays.  She is in Toronto these days. We miss her.

Nice square table topper. I think I would change the centre square to something not so directional.

That is all folks..
Have a great evening.

Good night.

The picture won't come up so click on the URL to get the pattern and the picture.

Ray and I went to the Ostomy clinic today. Andrea said all was well, so I was happy.

Then we trooped off to Cockney Kings for fish and chips. Another wonderful feast which we could not finish eating. We brought the leftovers home for dinner, but I was still full from lunch and so was Ray. The portions are way too big for us. But we enjoyed what we did eat. I love fish and chips with salt and malt vinegar .

Then we had to go to Safeway to pick up some prescriptions and that should be it for a while.

Back at home we just relaxed , watched TV and checked out the laptop.

Tonight I need to do a bit of sewing. When I say sewing it doesn't necessarily mean at the sewing machine but could be pinning , washing and pressing fabric and cutting. So it will be cutting first.

This gorgeous quilt was made by a Russian quilter. It is amazing and beautiful as well. It is the colour placement that calls to you as it is all small squares. Beautiful.

Richard and Katherine are in San Antonio. It is such a nice city and full of history. Ray, Jim and I were there several years ago.We ate at a restaurant along the San Antonio river walk at a place called Boudro's . Sounds just like Boudreau's so of course we had to eat there.

And that is it for tonight folks.

Have a great evening.

Good night.

Will it get better

Another day of being sick, having diarrhea. This is such a pain. I had to miss my sewing group today and my coffee chat with Pat. I hate to miss my Tuesday fun. Hopefully, I can regain my health soon. And then I could go next Tuesday.
So I had to remain home today. I slept several hours this afternoon and feel somewhat refreshed if not cured.

And in the course of the day I did very little. I knit a bit. I make these knitted cloths of cotton yarn for the kitchen dishes. I have about 9 in the pile. Ray gives them away to guests. LOL and we use them ourselves.

My dear friend Gail made this clock for her sewing room. She made one for me too and I see it giving the time first thing in the morning.  She is a clever lady though at the moment she is very ill.
My prayers are with her.

Such a cute photo of little Quinn. He is all dressed up, maybe for Christmas?  That is his dad Albert holding him up.

My niece, Marg's daughter in Tofino where it always rains.

Isn't this amazing quilting, what I wouldn't give to be able to quilt like that.
If I had started this quilting at a much younger age maybe I would be able to do it. However that aint goin' to happen.

It is getting time to go folks.
Have a lovely evening.

Good night.

Saving things

My great granddaughter in the dress I made for her mom Mary when Mary was as young as Rose.  It still looks good, thanks to Carla, Mary's mom for saving it. The swirl looks great. Rose must like it as she is sticking her tongue out LOL. Cute!!

This is so sweet, Grandma in bare feet quilting away , the kettle boiling on the potbellied stove, Grandpa rocking away and smiling at  grandma.  And don't forget the dog acting as a footstool for Grandma. Bliss!!

We established our own bliss today, just taking it easy after going to London Drugs for water which was in sale. I refrained from buying a book as I am getting back logged with books to read.
Then we headed down to Safeway where we get our prescriptions filled, we had one to take in today.  Then we just sat around at home having a nice day. I did my e mail and Ray watched TV.

And this piece is a table runner. It looks to me that the pieces have been cut with wedge ruler. It is most interesting in concept and in the way it is put together.

Isn't this great? How the owl looks as coffee!! It amuses me a lot.

All these are paper pieced that's why they are so perfect looking.

Pretty pink octogon . I wonder if it is hard to make. More paper piecing I think.

This is my friend Gail and today is her birthday. I hope you had a very happy birthday dear Gail. Our best wishes for increased health and happiness throughout the coming year. And our love for you and David forever.

That is it folks.

Have a great evening.
Good night.
