Marg and I had a radish party this afternoon. She came over, I was eating radishes and Marg helped me finish them off. We both like radishes and these were very tasty. A bit different from a tea party but fun anyway.

And we went back to London Drugs with my computer e.g. laptop. The picture programme  is gone and so is the programme  for my 

embroidery designs. I am going to go to TOM'S  and see hwat he can do for me. I am sure it will be better than London Drugs. At least he knows all about the machine if not about the photo programme. I can't find any of the CDs . things have been lost here.

That took up most of the day several trips to get this and that. We didn't go anywhere else. Oh we did go to TIM's for lunch. I had a bowl of potato soup and Ray had a bagel and cream cheese.

As I said previously Marg came over and visited for a while. After she went home I looked at my e mail and then Ray heated up some Boston beans for dinner and bread and butter. It was good !

That was the day   for us.

Maybe tomorrow will be a better day than running back and forth to the store.

Lifting weights. Just the right size for Mr. Mousie.

Block of the Day - Propellor and it looks like a propellor don't you think.  Sometimes blocks appear to look like their name and at other times it is so far off I can scarcely believe that is its name. 

My laptop is back and working. We went to the store after a call that the laptop was ready to be picked up.  So we picked it up and brought it home after a week away. Did it work? NO!! And I couldn't  make things work so I called Tony and he said bring it in. Well we did that and there was another thing he had forgotten. So another phone call and another thing to do. I had to call Jim in Edmonton to see what the network password was. He had written a page of things I needed to know but I had to get him to point me in the right direction. By this time I had such an anger in my chest. I can't recall when I had such an anger. I think this was so incompetent and I was so upset. But finally it was all fixed and I could get on and write my blog. I hope with the hope of the terminally frustrated by things computer that I can get the blog off and onto the right page. If not Heaven knows what will happen.

Time to stop complaining.

Richard had his Run for ALS , well actually it was Betty's Run for ALS. No I have no idea who Betty is . Rick was happy with the results of the run and you can see how things went on his blog for today. Richard Is Living With ALS. He And Peter participated in the run along with many of Richard's friends. In his blog he thanked his family and friends. 

After trips to London Drugs we had to go to Safeway for ice cream and strawberries LOL. Some things just insist on after treats.

So since then I have been messing around on the laptop and seeing if it all works. I am sure something will make itself known. Of course it will. Now I cannot drag the task bar down. Oh well! Maybe later.  It all takes time!

Adam just called  , we had a nice chat.  He alwasy wants to know how Ray and I are. Both of us are still pretty healthy except for a few issues. We are so lucky to feel well. We go out every day and walk around to keep loose as it is very easy for the joints to seize up. My dad used to walk every day too and so does Marg. It is a family thing that we do. My boys have other ways to stay healthy and loose,  golf being one of them, jogging another. Richard used to sail . One time he sailed around Vancouver Island which is a very large island.

Once again I am showing this photo of Rick and Kate. I love this one and it shows Richard at his best.  I pray he and Ricky can go sailing once more. I know Rick wants to sail so badly.

Coffee in all its varieties. The fabrics would make a gorgeous quilt. The dark , medium and light fabrics are the hallmark of quilters everywhere.

Father's Day ties for a great Dresden Plate block. I wonder if I put this one up earlier but it looks good again.

Hanging baskets on the lampposts in Cloverdale. It looks like Victoria and is very lovely.

I'll close now since some of my photos are missing and others won't open and yet others are not downloading off the sim card unless the card is in the laptop. I am still frustrated and I'll never take my laptop to anyone again. So it is back to London Drugs. I am mad....

still no news

Still no laptop so back to the past LOL. The PC is still in the works tonight. And I have not looked at any of my sources for the good things in life. I'll do that now.

The mouse is so erratic that I may have to stop at any given moment. I cannot get it to pick up things , it just wants to write right now.
 We went to London Drugs to see how the laptop was doing and it was uploading thousands of updates. I am not sure why but it should be in great shape when this is all over. Ray asked how much this was going to cost, thankfully he did as I was sure it would be the cost of a new laptop and expressed this to the boss . He said if it would have been that much they would have called and informed me of my options. So the cost according to him will be around $160. That fits in with  my ideas on cost.

We went to the SAS shoe store and I bought some summer shoes for wearing with light coloured pants or maybe even a skirt. That would be a great change as I have not worn a skirt for decades. We'll see how that works out. The store is very nice and so are the staff . They have popcorn, coffee, cookies and candies for the customers. That is so accomodating for customers. It makes for a good shopping experience.

Then we went for a bite of lunch, . We bought a sandwich, cut it in half and shared it. We had a coffee, shared a doughnut and had a nice lunch , not too expensive that way.

After that we went to LD as I mentioned further up in this blog.

Charmed Table Runner Pattern

 

Aren't these pretty table runners. I love the snowball one in blues and greens but the other two are lovely as well.

 

Friends found everywhere. These kittens are off for a good ride if the dog ever gets up LOL.

 

This looks like the old Album Block to me.

 

And this quilt is small Dresden Plate blocks, it looks so special. A flower garden on fabric.

And this is me for the past week or more. I kept the Kleenex company in funds. Have you noticed how thin the kleenex is these days , you need to use at least two of them to have a safe blow.

I must have forgotten to publish last night so yesterday's blog is now published.
I am thinking of how much love matters. Love of family, country, friends, all mean so much to all our lives. Richard wrote such a beautiful letter to his children today. It brings home all the feelings we have for each other.

Sawtooth Star is the first block I ever met  so it has a special meaning for me. A simple block really but so effective in a quilt.

 

I am still on the PC. my laptop is taking forever to get serviced. I wonder what is taking so long. The tech called this afternoon to ask me to go to Shaw the server and change my password then send it to him.

I did that but it took nearly an hour waiting on the phone to get a person from shaw to talk to me. By the time

I did that my tech had gone home for the day so I am hoping it will all be finished by tomorrow and that it will not cost me the price of a new laptop. Who knows?

 

Ray and I went to Metrotown for lunch at Tim Hortons. I had French Onion soup. I love theirs and it is not always available. So I enjoyed my lunch. Ray had a bagel and cream cheese.

We had to go to Safeway for Prescriptions and a few other items.

We had a terrible bad dinner. Strawberries, a little cake and whipped cream on top. It was delicious but I feel that I'd like a bit of protein. After I am finished here I'll check the fridge for that.

 

My pictures will remain in the camera, not that there are many anyway. Tomorrow I hope to download them to the newly refurbished laptop.

After Safeway we came home. I read my book for a while, it is called The City of Veils and takes place in the city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. It is very intersting and full of information on how the women there have to live their lives. It is so different from the kind of lives we live. I wonder if it is getting any easier and more free for them. I hope so.

 

This is a fascinating quilt.

Interlocking cats or should I say tessilating cats. I find it hard to look at though. Maybe if there was not so much black it would look better to me.

The dogs are obviously not real but are the girls' legs also unreal? I think not. But cute anyway.

hahaha. A cruel joke folks.

My PC can't make up its mind tonight, it tells me to sign out and then it says sign in. So I signed in.
Not getting much better though for some reason.

I'm having trouble with my Logictech. It wanders all over the place so I can only guess it needs a new battery. I'm off to do that now.

Ray just came in and he has taken the thing to fix it. I call it the clicker usually. He said it needs cleaning too.
It was a gorgeous day here , well that wasn't it . Thank goodness the laptop comes home tomorrow. Okay it works now.

We sat out in the sun then walked a bit in the sun, it was so beautiful. When we come to our street the trees make a magical  bower as they meet across the street. We are so fortunate to live here.

This might be my dad driving this wonderful vehicle.  That's what the lable says.

 

I don't hav emany current photos on thsi computer and am not going to download the ones on my camera to the

PC. When Laptop comes back  I'll take the pictures off the camera.

 

The only creative thing I did today was finish a beautiful yellow dish cloth. But

I think I'll pin some sections of the guild blocks tonight. I want them ready for next Wednesday guild .

The clicker is wandering all over so

I may have to sign off soon.

sent to my room

No laptop yet  s I am back in the bedroom with the PC. It is lonely here LOL.

As you know Tuesday is my day out with the ladies to sew. Pat picked me up a 8:50 so we coulds have our coffee at Starbucks in Oakridge. I had my usual Hash borwn from A&W as well as a coffee . A very comfortable routine for both of us.

Then it ws off tot he church. I too  photos of some of the quilts but I don't want to download them until my laptop is back.
Betty Lu was  here for her last day with us until September. She is going to her house in Maine for the summer and down to New York state to see her new granddaughter. Well she is not totally new but she is Betty Lu's only grandchild. I think she may be  o
about 9 months old. I'll miss Betty Lu as she is my sit beside companion. However there are many other lovely quilters to sit beside. I worked on , yep you're right hearts. It is very relaxing to applique the hearts , take out the basting and remove the paper and complet the applique. I like doing this work.
By the way I have a big black square from AVG sitting in the corner of my page so if you encounter any very bad spelling it is because I can't  see under the black square.
Oh and yes I cannot get rid of it. I will be happy to have the laptop home again.
We had lunch at the church. I made egg salad yesterday for my today lunch and Ray made my sandwich this morning. He gets lunch ready while I am getting myself ready LOL.
After lunch I got my things put away and waited for Sharon to get ready to go. She takes Betty and me to Community Quilts. I don't mean Betty Lu but Betty a different friend.
We three went along to Pumpkin Seeds which is what they call Community Quilts now. It was so nice to see all my  other friends.
I have not been there for some time. We talked and some sewed and others put on binding. Downstairs the ladies were cutting and adding binding and generally preparing the quilts for upstairs to sew the bindings down. There is also quilting going on upstairs. It is a very busy house on Tuesday. And a lot of fun. I don't go downstairs any more since my legs are very shaky and I might fall.


And I was so happy to be in good shape today and could go to Community Quilts. Took pictures there too but they will have to wait. I'll have a Show and Tell -you know when.
Now you can see where I have gotten confused. Oh well!!!!

Betty my dear friend liet whom I have not seen for a while went to Betty's for tea and cakes. Plus magazines to look at. Isn't that fun!\
That black box is a real challenge to get around.\

After a good time at Betty;'s I called Ray and he came and picked me up.
It was good to get home, I was a bit tired by then but not enough tired to have a nap. I had a great day.
Too bad about no pictures or any fun stuff.

laptop gone to be cleaned

Hi  folks,
My laptop has gone to the cleaners for servicing. So not much of a blog tonight on this old PC.   It will be several days before it returns home again. 

I won't be writing much on this one.

Our day began with a trip to London Drugs to drop off the laptop and then to the grocery store to pick up a few items for dinner.

I made Pepper steak in the slow cooker for dinner. It is one of Ray's favourite meals and I have never made it before. It turned out very well. Ièll make it again.
At Costco the other day I bought an old recipe tin like your mother used to have only this one had recipes in the tin and the Pepper Steak was an item in the box. Good buy.
Marg came over in the fternoon to sit with me while Ray took the car for servicing. Lynn the cleaning lady was here too so I had company for the afternoon.
I have a box on my computer that wonèt come down and it is blocking off my line of sight. Whoops there is that French e once again.
This may be the way things go for a few days.

Beautiful day here today and I was not in the mood to enjoy it. I watched the Fundraiser for the Children's hospital . It made me cry to see all those beautiful children who were so sick and some who had passed away. It reminded me of my Rick and some of the things that happened to him as a baby and young child. You know how boys are, they seem to get into a lot of trouble like falling off house size rocks and ingesting peanuts into the lungs which caused a week long stay in the hospital. He was just 11 months and cried every time I had to leave him. In those days there was no physical contact with sick children and the stay was just an hour. They were  so strict and Rick was behind glass so we could not even touch. IT was awful. Then there was the time when my friend was visiting. Rick crawled under the car while we were talking. When my friend started the car Rick began to cry and we were lucky once again because we were able to get him out from under the car.
Another time he climbed up a huge rock as high as a two story house and fell down. He was amazing at getting into trouble like that . He was such a good little boy but adventuresome and the adventurous side of him never left him. He was always happy doing something that was frightening for me but fun for him. But then boys are like that. I had five boys and they all at varying times and varying degrees had life threatening adventures. It was fun but you can't keep boys in a box.  I love my fun boys despite the scary parts.  My heart is breaking once again.  But I am strong and will manage to overcome.

My sons Richard, Peter and James will be walking, Rick will be rolling in his wheelchair of course ;)  for ALS . They are accepting funds for this disease. Ray and I both contributed and so have my boys.  I hope it will be successful for them.

These spool blocks were done by a friend and I think they will make a really lovely quilt.

Here are the dimensions of the block.From each scrap, cut:

• Cut two 1-7/8" squares for half-square triangle units**
• Cut three 1-1/2" squares
• Arrange the pieces until you get the spool. I know you can do it LOL.

Here's and antique with all its decals in top condition. The owners believe it to be over 100 years old, it has been in the family forever it seems. It is mounted on a sewing table. Wouldn't you love to own this piece?

 

Not an exciting day in the lives of Ray and Nan . However we have decided to take a trip to places we have not been to very often. SO today we went to Langley ... and bought gas LOL. Gas here is $1.42 a litre and $1.37 a liter in Langley so we filled up.

We had lunch and drove around town. The town was very tiny in 1975. Ray and I used to go there to go around the old town to the antique shops . Now we can hardly find the old town any more.

We had once thought of buying a fish and chip shop that was for sale . Fortunately we decided  not to go there .  These shops were hard to manage at that time. I am sure at any time. And we had no experience in fish and chips stores other than eating the product. Not really a good business plan LOL.

We took a quick drive down the main street of Cloverdale and think we'll go there for lunch one day at the old fashioned restaurant which does all home cooking. Also they had a hobby shop that sells boats or at least had one in the shop window.  It looks like a fun afternoon.

 

 

 

Very pretty quilt, lovely to look at but I don't have instructions on how to make it. So think of it as a quilt candy.

 

Nice boy guarding the counter. I so love Labs, they are so protective and love their people.

And cats love quilts, this cat is a star LOL. What a colourful quilt, I really like it- all scrappy.
