I forgot about writing my blog. Richard is here ,we are talking, I was making dinner and so it goes.

Rick locked his keys in his truck along with his phone so we are waiting for BCAA to come and unlock it. He is a bit anxious about leaving his things in the car. The Auto club called and said they were on the way. That is our excitement for this evening.

Not a lot going on during the day either, I said on Facebook that I was planning a lazy day and it was. Although I did not nap I still didn't do much.

We did go to our regular store for a few groceries and to Tim's for a sandwich and coffee.
That was our exciting day.

Ray is having some troubles with acid reflux and he is not feeling too well. He needs to go back to the doctor for new pills, some of the pills wear out their welcome and need to be replaced with a different kind.
It interferes with his sleep as well. Poor Ray, he is quite listless today

But tomorrow will be a big day, Mary is coming from  Victoria with Rose. Ricky will be here. Meg , Lewis and Charlotte will also be coming. I can hardly wait to see how the babies will behave. Last time they were here Charlotte was not happy to share with Rose. I was very amused. I am looking forward to seeing what transpires tomorrow. I love those two little girls and am so glad when they come to visit. I do love all the adults too of course.

Ray and I have rescued many little birds when we lived in the house. They would fall out of the nest and we'd put them back. They are always so sweet.

 

Come home mom! I'm waiting , can't you see.

Who doesn't ? I surely do. I stand by the window and watch the rain on the roof below. I love the rain.

 

Love conquers all.

 

An unusual pairing but a loving one. What's up with me tonight , I must have love on my mind.

A relaxing evening, wine, needles, yarn and a good book. Now that is something real good!

lock, stock

And barrel.   Did you ever wonder where this common expression came from. I didn't. I think it is because I have never held or owned a gun/rifle.  The components of a rifle are the lock, which is the firing trigger, stock is  the back of the rifle or the wooden part and the barrel is where the bullet come out. Lock, stock and barrel means everything or all the pieces and parts.  I never knew.

This is a double star block. I made one myself some years ago.

My little star is not in the middle of the block though. And this is not the finished quilt but just the top. The finished one is hanging above my bed.

My what a difference a finished quilt makes.

Our day began early for us. We got up at 7:00 because Ray had an appointment with Dr. Bishop at Vancouver Hospital to have his back checked out from the procedure he had recently. The traffic was awful  and it took some time to get there . But we made it before the appointment. Dr. Bishop took him through his paces and declared his back was good. He said he would need to walk two twenty minute walks each day to make sure it stays good.

 

After the visit we went to Denny's for breakfast. I had scrambled eggs , sausage, bacon and pancakes. Lots of food but I didn't eat it all, still enjoyed what I did eat.

 

Then we went across town because we were across town.. and headed out to Wal-mart for margarine. We bought 6 tubs. How did that end up costing $132 I wonder?

After that we went to Safeway for prescriptions and then up to our local mall where we met Margaret. We bought two scratch tickets. Ray won $30 and I won $10. Now that was very nice.

 

Home at last and both of us were very tired. We put the stuff we had purchased away and then had a nap.  

No real dinner , we weren't hungry. I bought a little tray of Manicotti something I had wanted to try for a long time. It was not as good as it had hoped. But it was filling.

 

I am hoping Mary and Rose can come over on Sunday to see Richard and us of course. Maybe Charlotte will come too with her mom and dad. That would be wonderful. That was our day and the weather was wonderful.

 

Very special animals. I wonder if these are a separate type of giraffe. It seems that they are.

 

Isn't this the epitome of organized, it is beautiful. I guess whoever owns these fabrics never uses them. Haha......

not quite after 8 but close

I am late tonight but the day went late for us. I made dinner for Richard and Ricky. They had been at the boat   all day and were late getting back here for dinner. We communicated by phone so I knew when to put the dinner in the oven to cook. It was after 6:30 when we sat down. By the time we ate and cleaned up it was even later and it slipped my mind about the blog.
Ricky left after dinner to go to his friend's place where he is staying.  We were just sitting her watching TV when I realized it was time to get at the blog.

Ray and I had to go to the store today for coffee cream. Now that Richard is here and using cream in his coffee we ran out before our shopping day. Back to the grocery store once again. We spend a lot of time there for sure. I am sure there is a more efficient way to shop but Ray loves going to the store. While we were there I ran into a teacher friend from my school. It was good to see her as I rarely see any teachers in my travels except of course while at my quilting and pot luck groups.

As is often the way I was wiped out when we got home and had to lay down for a while. the phone always seems to interrupt my little naps so I got  up and began preparing dinner. Not cooking it but just getting things ready. My mom used to do that. Funny how we
internalize  what our parents do without thinking. I wonder where my mom got her habits. She was young when her mother died after years of illness so she must have made her own rules. My mom was the most organized person I ever knew. Her linen closet was so perfect aligned that you'd think she had taken a ruler to it to measure the sheets and towels. Oh how I wish I could be like her but I am not. I can only admire her.
 It was a nice dinner with Richard and Ricky, they both had a wonderful day at the boat and were very happy.

Ricky sat down on the dock and these dogs from another boat came over to visit. Ricky loves dogs and obviously dogs love him.

Double T.

 

Well the Canucks management have fired Alain Vigneault the coach. The Canucks were out of the playoffs in the first four games.  It is always the coach who gets the knife. Some of the players have iron clad contracts so they can't be fired. It will be an interesting summer.

 

For Ray and me we had one of those quiet days. Rick met his son Ricky and they went out to their boat. Ricky was able to get Richard on the boat . The marina management had put his boat in a easier slip so that was very kind of them. Rick has had his boat at this marina for 15 years so they are all well acquainted with each other and they have been so helpful to him because of his ALS.  I called an hour ago and Rick is on the way here for dinner. but it is a long way and in rush hour traffic so who knows how long that will take. He said he would tell us all about his day when he gets home.

He got home and said his day was so wonderful as he and Ricky

figured out how to get Richard onto the boat. He was very happy.

I makde chili for dinner, Rick had two bowls and I was happy LOL.

We also had fresh buns with butter. No one here has much of an appetite despite Rick having two bowls of chili or I would have made a salad. Neither Ray nor I could handle that. If we have salad that is our dinner. Appetites seem to disappear as you age. Isn't that weird?

Yesterday I took pictures of quilts made by the ladies of the quilt group and forgot to take them off the camera. I had forgotten to put the little card inot the camera so had to use the on camera photo album which only allows 7 photos. But here is what I took.

Betty is the champion of heart quilts. This one is made of plaid fabrics and is so nice.

Pretty in purple, these quilts go to the hospital for children.

This is really wild. Betty loves all these wild fabrics.

 

Pat made this beautiful quilt, the part on the left is a pillow piece and should be viewed from another angle. All appliqued and quilted by Pat. She does such wonderful work.

I can't remember who made this one but I really like.

Time to change.

So cute! This poor dog can never have a happy face , his dewlaps will not allow it hahaha.

And I don't believe any of it. Cats are so supercilious and sure of themselves.

Today was my quilting day so Pat picked me up . First we went for coffee at Starbucks, then off to the church for sewing. Lots of lovely friends there today. And of course there was some beautiful sewing happening. We had a good chat with the teachers on board as we have a newly elected government which is not happy with education , namely teachers. Our new Premier is talking about having a 10 year contract with the teacher's union.  We are all horrified with that . I think there would be an uprising of teachers if that were to come to pass.

Interesting to hear what others have to say.

Some of the talk was about the movie The Great Gatsby, I hope to see that one. Kathy said she would also like to see it so we are arranging a date. I hope next Monday. The Great Gatsby has been made three times  , I have never seen one of them . Sonce I like Leonardo Di Caprio I really want to see this one. Although Robert Redford was in one of the remakes and I like him too.

I didn't go to Community Quilts once again , I was too tired so Pat took me home since she goes by our place on her way to Hop On's where she buys her produce. We go there too for fresh produce from the gardens behind the store. Acres of plantings.

I hope to go to Community quilts next week. I see most of those women at guild so if I miss them on Tuesday I can catch up then.

This Oklahoma boy is sitting by his owner , not moving and the owner is dead. How awful for this good boy. I hope he finds a good home.
