Oh sew lazy

Imagine sleeping a good part of the day.  Well at least two afternoon hours.
However I did wash my new fabrics-In the washing machine. I planned to skip the agitator part of it but forgot and you all know what a mess that is. It took me a while to get the ravellings unravelled and cut off.  Serious hard work LOL. I did fold them all up but will iron them tomorrow. I am looking forward to cutting the squares out and arranging them into a table topper for Matthew who expressed a liking for the one I have on the table.  It will probably be too late for Hallowe'en but there is always next year. Mine will no doubt stay on the table for a part of next month.

I saw a nice variation of the  French Braid table runner. Isn't it lovely. You see that there is no centre square that is usual in this kind of pattern. Unfortunatley no pattern was offered. I think I go this off Craftsy quilts. There are so many pictures of quilts there but rarely patterns or instructions for the quilts.

I think it is so pretty in Christmas colours.

Ray boiled up some eggs for me to make into egg salad. So I made it and then he had to go up to the bakery and buy some bread. Now I am looking forward to soup and egg sandwiches for dinner. So simple and old fashioned.

We are watching the debate, it is almost over now. Fascinating!

Wow all those orange things, looks like fun. Rose and mommy out with grandma for the day.

Now that is such a nice autumn display.

Such a great little girl in her jammies. She always puts her hand on her hips and it is so cute.

 I found several quilts with chickens today but they did not have a pattern with them. However they are lots of fun to view.

No you are not seeing things, this quilt has the chickens turning 45' in each panel.

Cute isn't it? And see the eggs around the chickens-it gives the quilt a nice finish.

 

This is a simple chicken pattern/quilt. I think you could draw up this chicken  yourself. I like to cut things out of paper to get the picture I want . Then  I can shape things up as I like them to be.

One more, I don't want you to be chickening out on me LOL.

Neat chickens in tidy circles. And that's it folks. For the chickens that is.

An example of a crazy quilt block. It is very pretty. Crazy quilting can be very freeing. Just go ahead , shoose your colours with very little thought to matching them up and add all the lovely stitches you like and the do your embellishments.

This is the one I did for a guild challenge, the centre piece was embroidered on my embroidery machine, the one that is languishing in the shop because Janome is so dreadful about sending parts. You can find the patterns for  Crazy quilt blocks if you put that into your browser.

 

Remember this when you decide to park your whisk . I know not really funny but the I try .

And my little mice have taken up knitting again, look at the mess LOL.

guild night

Guild tonight but first dinner out with Kathy, Judy and Barb. We meet every guild night for dinner. It is so nice to have an opportunity to just talk and eat. What could be nicer?
At guild we had an interesting speaker who took us through her quilting life until she found Labrynth quits and also through that found her own spiritual nature. The quilts are a wonder of  French Knots. It is quite amazing.

Every blue thing you see is a French knot, stunning!

We had a lovely time after with  Show and Tell and of course cookies and cranberry juice. Why cranberry juice you say? Because someone forgot to bring the coffee cream LOL.

Jean did this quilt of her son. She said she used strips to make the quilt. She has done some totally amazing quilts of people.

One member finally finished her first quilt , a sampler.

These two are Hawaian quilting, the Hallowe'en and the frog. This frog has so much personality. Mary A. made them both.

 

And talk about forgetting, I usually take a toothbrush and toothpaste with me to guild because I like to clean my mouth after dinner which is usually something with garlic. So I put the toothpaste and the brush holder in my purse. Lo and behold when I opened up the holder it was empty. No tooth brush. Drat, I had to finger brush my teeth.

Today I went to the cardiologist. He was so happy about the results of my test and said that at the moment I had no heart disease. The picture from the MIBI showed my red lines which are what carries the blood to the heart were not clogged at all. All my numbers were so good he was almost hugging me...  That was fabulous news!!

We had to go to Safeway for some coffee cream, hey I could have helped out at the guild if I had known they were short LOL.
Then I tried to have a nap but sleep would not come but I managed to stay awake for the evening and for now to write the blog.

Today was my Tuesday groups. I did a bit of embroidery before lunch. Then I was totally wiped out so asked Pat to take me home instead of going on to Pumpkin Seeds. Pat doesn't go to PS so it was not out of her way. That also meant I was not going to Betty's for tea and cakes too. Oh what a shame. I don't know why the fatigue hit me like that but I came home and went right to bed for a couple of hours.

Rick called to say he was at the doctor and he said that he upgraded his status to urgent and hope that he can see the neurologist within the next 2 to 3 days. If not then it will be 2 to 3 weeks  before they can fix his back which means surgery. I am praying for him to have a good result.
Doctor Horne called  to confirm my appointment tomorrow. It is for the result of my MIBI recently.

I did take some more photos of the fabric I bought yesterday, so here they are.

I love this stripe, it is perfect for  Hallowe'en.

 Cute fabrics. I hope to get started on the quilt this week. At least the cutting.

 

So that is my day.

Adam and Lisa out for a walk somewhere in the Maritimes. They walk from 45 to 60 miles a week and they go fast. Amazing!!

Martha Washington Star. I haven't seen this one for a long time, since I first began quilting and then I thought it was way to hard to ever do. Since then I look at things differently. Instead of looking at the whole thing I take it apart in my mind and see the easy parts. It all seems to be fairly good to me now.

Quilt as you go for borders. I have not ever tried this method but maybe some of you might like this way of putting quilts together.

 

Ray and I went out around 1:30 first for bread and secondly to take a library book back as it was due tomorrow. Then we decided to go to Richmond to Fabricana where I spent a bit of time and checked out the Halloween fabrics. It took me a while to find them as the store is big and has lots of lovely fabric :))

Eventually did  find them and was able to choose . Then I took them to the counter, because there was a sale I had to wait a bit at the cutting table, also at the cash register. Here are my lovelies!!

 

Not such a good photo , I'll take another one tomorrow when the light is better.

Then we went to the Richmond mall, had a hard time finding a parking spot.

We went to the Way On shoe shop and bought some slippers. I got one pair and Ray bought two pair. When he got them home he discovered thay were too small. Back to WayOn!!!!

 

Also I bought some lovely hand soap, two bottles, lemon and orange from Bath and Body Works. First time for me. Ray's niece loved this soap so much she went to the USA to buy lots of them before the company came to Canada.

 

 

When we got home  Marg called to say she had a very good book that she was finished with and did I want it. Well of course I did, so she came over and stayed for a while and chatted. The book is by Rick Mofina and is called They Disappeared.  I have a pile of books to read now. Thanks Marg LOL.

After Marg left I lay down as my feet were killing me from walking

the mall, the poor things were swollen. But I lay down and read a bit then the pain went away.

We had leftovers for dinner of course.

Time for TV watching.

This is a pretty block and the colours give it such a nice look. I don't have any instructions but I am sure you can figure it out. I would go with the 2.5" for the squares and make the triangle blocks 3" and cut them down. You will waste some small bits of fabric but that's life. We all have so much fabric that  a little bit of waste is not that dreadful.

 

This is another colourful block for which I have no pattern. But still I want to share it with all of you.

Aaron on the Zip Line in West Virginia , he is my grandson who lives in Louisiana in Lake Charles where his dad Adam lives. This is a job that he is on. Now don't ask me what he is working at, I have no idea. Nobody does the old jobs any more LOL.

Richard is in the kitchen preparing the turkey for Thanksgiving dinner.
Turkey is in the oven, we are watching Steel Magnolias again. We all like this movie and why not, it was so well done that it is a classic.
And we are waiting for Charlotte to arrive along with Meaghan, Lewis and Ricky. Haha!!
Matthew , Caroline and Ryan were here this morning with dessert LOL. They brought two desserts ,Matthew made one and Caroline made the other. Now we have to choose which one is the best. Apparently it is a contest between the two of them LOL. It was really a nice visit, Ryan is home from UBC in Kelowna for Thanksgiving. We were happy to see them all.

Our wonderful grandson Ryan who visited this morning with his mom and dad Caroline and Matthew. It was so great to see him.

Matthew and Ray inspecting my Halloween wall hanging. Matthew said he likes Halloween and I had several pieces on display. He liked the table cover I had too so if I can find some good Halloween fabric I intend to make him one. It is an easy pattern, just making snowballs along with a creepy background and quilted with a scary stitch from my machine. The only think wrong with it is the batting. Do not use a batting that is too thin, at least give it a bit of body. That is what I learned from this table square.

 

Our grandson Ricky who also visited this morning. They just missed each other by about 5 minutes. Too bad. Ricky's dad is Richard. Hard to figure that one out isn't it :))

Then in the afternoon Meaghan , Lewis and Charlotte arrived. Charlotte full of smiles and energy and just waiting to run around the apartment. She is a dynamo and a lot of fun.  We all love her so much. She hugged and kissed her grandpa Richard and Grandad Ray as well as Grandma Nan. It was a love-in to be sure.
