New member Sam

Thank you Sam for joining my blog. It is great to have a new member. Welcome.

http:/'s/www.quilterscache.com/E/EightHandsRoundBlock.html

Star in a Star or Eight Hands Round. I want to call it Cherries Jubilee LOL. It is from Susan's Blog Starwood Quilter and the block can be found too  in  Quilterscache and I am sure in many other places.

Now this following tutorial is one I learned from an expert appliquer when she gave a workshop at my small group of quilters.  But we used to spray the starch on the tiny edges of a piece. I like this method because it is tidier.

This is the most fun block along with  the ensuing history of women and the evolution of trousers for women. It is an enlightening blog from Saturday Morning Post.
I sold the Saturday Evening Post .I know the magazine has been gone for a long time but it has meaning for me since I used to sell it door to door when I was young. I sold Liberty magazines too. I was young,  ten I think, it was a common way for young people to ean spending money.

Don't you think it is cute all done in restoration fabrics , at least I think that is what they are. Something from the Kansas City Star is what these blocks are. Can  you locate any of the others?  They are at the bottom on the right hand side.

I have some pictures to show tonight that I just enjoy looking at.
This one for instance is not a highly polished photo but has such joie di vivre .
Hi dad am I glad to see You. Those ears are fantastic . This one warms my heart.

Isn't this beautiful, you would hardly want to eat any of it. It is so imaginative and will celebrate the American Thanksgiving this week. It will take until Thursday to create it LOL.

This little mug rug is so cute and again it will be great for Thanksgiving.

I may have shown this one before but it is closer to the day and it is cute too.

What a beautiful scene. I like wintery scenes where the lights glisten on the snow. Old fashioned lamps in this case along the lengthy driveway. I  like the colour of the photo , a wonderful turquoise.

Wouldn't you think this would be painful. Haha that's cats for you.LOL.

Ray and I went shopping this morning. I looked at the magazines and there were a few new ones, 100 blocks , the new Fons and Porter. Quilts and More or something like that , but I refrained from indulging because I bought one last week and haven't even looked at it yet.  We have been too busy for me to read. Sad isn't it.
Then we had coffee and a breakfast sandwich at Tim Horton's. Two old ladies were sitting next to us . "Do you live alone?" said the first old lady.Yes. "Do you" said the second old lady. "Yes, me too"
"How old are you" Lady one. 83, Oh my you do look good for that age and so it went back and forth. The second lady was 86 and looked good too said her friend. I just had to look at them when we left. Good looking or looking good , neither of them fit either category.  However they were kind to each other and that means everything.
We had to go to Safeway for prescriptions. While there I bought Salisbury steak and gravy at the deli. We had it for dinner , it was very good. We'll get it again.
Then we took Marg to the casino, our last trip until next year. We were not very lucky. Ray was a bit but I was not at all. Marg was not too bad. But we had some fun.
Then we had the dinner when we got home.
Watching Pierce Brosnan in The World is Not Enough. Elegant man he is.  I really like him.

So the story goes, nothing to exciting here today. I did take my air line tickets out of my purse today. Think about it, if I got robbed I would not just lose the hundred or sodollars in my wallet but the 2300 dollars that the tickets cost so taking them out was the best thing to do.

Time to fly!!!
Have a good evening.
Guten Tag.
